Today we're gonna enable our Jeep Wrangler to do even more. This is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler and we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt two inch trailer hitch receiver. There's so many different things we can do with a hitch receiver. This is a two inch. So it's gonna work with your two inch accessories, like a bike rack. You can have a cargo carrier on heat here or even just a load extender for some kayaks that are up on the roof.
Regardless, having this is gonna be great for a bunch of fun stuff, but also towing as well. We have these safety chain loops right here. So it's gonna work with our bigger chains. Which I really don't think that the bigger chains are gonna be necessary cause this doesn't really have a massive capacity. So even with the smaller ones that we got, the smaller ones are gonna work for the smaller trailers that you have.
When it comes to capacity, it's gonna give us about 3,500 pounds of gross trailer weight. And the max tongue weight's gonna be 350 pounds, but if you go on the weight distribution tab on our website, we can put one of those on your trailer and we can grab, we can go all the way up to about 4,000 pounds of gross trailer weight and 400 pounds of tongue weight. So that's always an option to kind of bump up your capacity. Typically your accessories are gonna come with a hitch pin but if you lose them or need one, Etrailer's got you covered. Uh, we do wanna make sure that we get a five-eighths inch diameter pin.
As you can see, there's hardly any play in there. It's just gonna be the strongest option for all of them. One thing I like about this hitch receiver compared to some of the other ones, it does stick out a little bit farther. So those accessories that you're using, like a bike rack or something, a lot of the times they're not gonna fold up or anything. So with having this a little bit farther out, it's pretty good, but I'm gonna show you real quick.
The reason why that extra amount of room is nice is because when we put in a bike rack or something this spare tire always to get in the way. So when I put it up and line up our hitch receiver with the hole and everything, which is right about, right about here. So as you can see, it does not hit. It does look like it does, but that's just the cover. So having one that comes out a little bit is kind of nice. But one thing that I have found with the Curt's is you kind of saw me struggle to take this thing in and out. The powder coat that they put on this stuff, on their hitches is always so thick. We actually also had a little bit of issues installing it because the powder coating was so thick. So if you wanna have it easier install, the one we make is the same exact thing. It just has a flat matte black powder coated finish but it's not as thick. This is glossy and it's thicker. So the Etrailer option is the same length as this one but it's gonna be a lot easier to install. Just to make sure your accessories are gonna fold up. Let's do some measurements. So from the center of the hitch pin hole to the start of your bumper. It's only about three inches. Then we go all the way out to the very edge of our spare tire. It's about nine inches. I don't know if you have a lift on your Jeep or bigger tires, but this doesn't have a lift on it. And it has stock tires, which is 2 45, 75 R seventeens. So this next measurement might vary depending on your set up on the Jeep, but from the ground to the inner top lip of the hitch receiver, it's about 18 and a half inches. And that's this right here. When it comes to the install all these hitches are gonna kind of install the same. But I have found with the Curt, the powder coating is just thick enough to make it to where it's not the easiest. I had to use a Jack and just a little rubber mount to get it up into place. So if you don't wanna do that, go with the Etrailer one. but it's still the same exact thing. So we're gonna go over that installation process with you right now. In the instructions, it says to lower the exhaust. If you wanna make it easier on yourself, you can. That's just a couple steps we don't really need to do. But if you wanted to, there's a hanger right here and that same exact position on the other side is our other hanger. That'll just give us a little bit more room but we don't really need it. Four holes. One right here, one right here, one right here and one right here. And then we got four holes right there. We're gonna line those up, make sure the hitch receiver's facing out. And we'll line it up. And put it up into place. This one's a little tight on here just because of the powder coated finish. Curt does do that. If
