Adam: Hi, everybody. Adam with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the etrailer hitch-mounted cargo carrier on our 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Before we start the video, I do want to let you guys know that if you are interested in this cargo carrier, you will have to purchase a hitch extender. We tried it without it. Would not fold up whatsoever.
This one here is Curt, and it does add eight inches from the edge of our existing hitch receiver to the edge of the new added on section. So, everything we are saying today is going to be with this hitch extender in use. Just keep that in mind as we progress through the video. But this one is going to be a true 60 by 24, so we are going to get plenty of different items in here. Coolers, generators, bags, whatever you really want. If you really have your Wrangler completely loaded down, plenty of people, even if you have stuff on the roof ...
having more space in the Wrangler, trust me, is a good thing. But you guys probably know better than me.There is a couple of things we could add to this if we wanted to. If you guys had stuff stacked up here and your taillights are blocked, we have a taillight kit that you can buy for the etrailer cargo carrier, and also we have a license plate bracket as well. If you are blocking the license plate like you see here, we have those options. So, that's awesome.Other options with this cargo carrier other than just the folding up, we actually have a tilt-away feature, which works really nicely with the extension on this Wrangler.
Let's go ahead and pull these pins here. These come with the kit. You're going to get two of them just like that. I'm going to have to lift up a little bit to get that undone. But with this leaning away with our stuff on it, we actually can gain back hatch access with our Jeep here is this OEM tire. Not extra big, not extra small.
But as you guys can see, as I go it gets so close, but we have no contact whatsoever. We don't need really anything besides just the Curt extender to be able to completely open up the whole entire door, so we can grab whatever we need out of there with it tilted down. I thought that was pretty awesome, just because you're really going to have this issue with almost any cargo carrier that's not designed specifically for this vehicle. But luckily if you just grabbed this extender, the etrailer one works. What we want to do now just lift it back up, and replace those pins just like that. Other one's just going to go up top here . and just replace those pins. All right. Pretty simple stuff. It is going to be made of steel. It is going to have a powder coat finish. As you see, it looks pretty nice with our gray and black Wrangler over here, and it's going to get us about 500 pounds of weight capacity. You should be good to load it all up. But just to note with the Curt extension, it is going to cut our hitch capacity down 50%. But with the hitch that we have on here, it is plenty good to handle these 500 pounds. It's awesome. One thing that you guys need to take note, obviously with the extension we add a little bit more length than just normal to the back of our vehicle. So, let's check that out. From the edge of our bumper to the outermost point here, it is going to be about 49 and 1/2 inches . which is quite a lot, but it does sit up relatively high. If you guys are planning on going off-roading, just know you have about 22 and 1/2 inches of ground clearance. That's plenty in my opinion, even if you're going extreme off-roading. You might have to take it out, but I highly doubt it.Other than that, I guess we can go over just it folding up, and check and see how that looks. Just go ahead and just pull these pins again like this. Once we have that up there, go ahead and fold this up. You can drive with it like this if you don't feel like taking all that out. If you guys get to your destination and you don't really have a place to store it, you can just fold it up like so, and then replace our pins. Make sure you line that up real nice. It slides in there, and then we'll go ahead and put those in.One thing to note: if you guys do get your destination, you guys realize that you really, really need to store it and take it out of your vehicle . if you guys are just going on vacation for even a trail
