I got the 1080p version and Ive been very happy with it. Installed them about a month ago. I placed one camera overlooking my garden and the other over my sidewalk. Man I had no idea SO many people were passing by my door on a daily basis 😂 the battery on that one was draining LIKE CRAZY! Such a high traffic area. It was losing between 6 - 9 % each day. One year my a$$ 🤣 So I bought a eufy Solar Panel for that camera and PROBLEM SOLVED!! Works like a charm and Id recommend it to anyone

I’m on the latest firmware and I did this review way after those other videos were produced. The image quality is not the biggest issue. Actually its not an issue in my personal opinion since I think 1080 is just fine. Even though they are selling people on it and not delivering. The big issue is that still does 1-2 second clips in HKSV. Many people have complained about this and they still haven’t fixed the issues.

Thanks for excellent video. Do you have experience with a magnetic mount. Magnet is very strong, however the holder with a ball for camera is really very badly designed. How to fix the holder firmly to the wall? Have you any idea?
@ModernDayTech
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I’m not sure what you mean. There’s two piece of the magnetic mount. The first piece is small. You want to screw it in the correct side & direction. If I remember correctly the point points up and the lip goes toward the wall. That way the second piece of the mount holds securely to the first when you push in and down over the first piece. I hope that helps. BTW: they say not to use the magnetic mount outside but I still do. We’ll see how it does in the long run.

@@ModernDayTech Thank you for your reply. I do mounting following instructions, but I still find sliding the ball holder on the hook very unstable. Sliding length is only 1 mm, so 120$ camera fixing is very unsteady. It is really very risky. Moreover, there is no need to release the holder from the wall, because the camera can be easily released from the holder to charge it. Finally I found a solution. I drilled a small hole in the center of the ball to put a small screwdriver to tight the holder firmly to the wall (directly without a plastic hook). The holder is fixed very firmly to the wall without any negative impact to magnetic function. 🧲 Thank you again for your reply. Peter

Yes I noticed that too. Both the 1080p and 2K only record for 5 seconds in the eufy app when you have homekit enabled. It's not a huge issue cause at least the 1080p version records most of the motion in homekit, but it would still be nice for eufy to have it backup to the homebase storage. I hope they fix the 2K verison cause it's a huge issue for homekit users that spend good money for products.

What is the outdoor mounting like? Two screws or adhesive or?
@ModernDayTech
4 жыл бұрын
There are two different mounts provide for each camera. The first type is a magnet type (they say for indoors only but many people use outside) which takes one screw in the mount. The second type is a screw that goes into the back of the camera for a stronger more permanent fix. That mount uses two screws into wherever you're mounting it. No adhesives are provided but you could always jerry-rig it for your use case. Just make sure it's strong enough.
@TravisBowmanRules

@@ModernDayTech Yes, I thought of using the magnetic one screw mount outdoors, just not sure how long it would hold up in the weather in the South? Is it any more flimsy material wise?
@ModernDayTech

I wouldn't call it flimsy but it does have a different material around the magnetic part compared to hard plastic everywhere on the other mount so it might not hold up in heat as well. It's still too early to tell.

Nice system but Eufy doesn't have a powerful outdoor siren or a flash light. Burglars are mainly startled by a powerful siren, which the Eufy system cannot offer! Eufy does have a beeper (alarm) on the homebase and the camera, but with that you tell the burglar exactly where the camera and the Eufy homebase are. If he also takes it with him, then you have nothing because the video images are stored on the homebase! And the beeping sound from the camera or the Eufy homebase is far from powerful. A pitty for Eufy security system and a missed opportunity.
@ModernDayTech

Hi Peter, Thanks for watching. I appreciate your opinion but they do offer models with lights and they offer a cloud service too. You don't have to set off the homebase alert, you can set off both (camera & base) or just one. These are outdoor cameras so if the alarm goes off outside, nobody is going to go know to break "into" your house and retrieve the homebase. And if you are using these inside, just turn off the homebase alarm. Either way, a cloud service is available for a backup. Personally I agree the alarm could be louder but in most cases I think it loud enough to wake you up or get the attention of neighbor. That's what the alarm is for. Alarms are not there to scare them, the people are. They also have some models without a homebase (solo) (some with lights and no lights) so you need to protect the data a little more on those and you should be placing your outdoor solo cameras around 10ft anyways, so they can't get to it without a ladder but also get the cloud storage just in case. I think Eufy is doing a lot of things right, but sure, there is always room for improvement.

Yes, the hub can support more cameras. I don't remember the limit but I think its 4 or 8 pros, or 8 or 16 1080p. I believe I said it in the video. It can work in combination too, but they don't mention a limit, so its trial and error, I currently have 2 pros and 2 1080p all on one Eufy hub and it works great. That is why they sell just the cameras alone - 1080p amzn.to/3DP0gde 2K - amzn.to/38DMRqj. BTW: don't get confused with the Eufy Solo camera (amzn.to/3mZEPQQ ) that look the same. Reolink Argus 2 > Eufy > Arlo. Why? Because the problem with most battery, wireless cameras is that they need the usage of internet, which in itself a security flaw I was surprised none of these cameras manufacturers think about. So, a would-be thief would simply cut off power or block your wireless internet, then you're as good as not having a camera in the first place. That's where Reolink cameras I found to be the best in beng able to recording while internet is down and still replaying all those videos later, on top of giving buyers lifetime free access to their cloud storage in case nefarious perpetrators steal or break the cameras containing the SD card. Plus, Reolink cameras are nearly nearly half to four times cheaper than the other cameras out there, making the best priced and low maintenance cameras you can find. Consider checking them out if you have have time good ole mate.
