I just saw your 2 star review of this product on Amazon. Maybe notate somewhere that you're not recommending this product. What did you end up with? Back to OEM?

I am still using it... And I will continue to use it, coupled with the Screaming Eagle programmable ignition module. I even have a spare in my saddlebag, You never know. Actually I keep a complete spare ignition set up with coil.. They usually go before the rest of the bikes do.. Evos are great... But thanks for noting that....

Brother you had better check your primary and NOW. As loud as that primary chain is, it has either a tension shoe dropped to the bottom or a loose compensator. That is seriously LOUD

I'm replacing mine with a dynatek s and a new coil to see if I can get her(99 FB) start.. My oem has some melting to were the wires are a little exposed at the bottom of the brown paste, but not much really. she cranks good but won't fire up. after that don't know what else to look for.

Not sure if your running a a single or dual fire coil but in this video kzitem.info/news/bejne/z4poyHmKrqSCdGU I show how to test to see if your getting spark to the plugs. If you test your system like this and the plug does fire then the trigger which is the cam position sensor or the ignition module is not doing it's job.. The CPS tell the ignition module when to trigger the coil. Most likely with the brown goo I would suspect the CPS is done..

@@robertbencze4660 it's a dual, everything is stock on this bike. I do have strong sparks after the new coil installed. I'm going to install the dynatek this week and see. what surprises me is this bike only has 3800 miles. thanks for responding.

What about one with the fuel injection system? Got a 97 roadking, fuel system is fine. So I don’t wanna swap to carbed if I don’t have too.

I put the sensor in my 98 softail . Ran the bike prior to the swapping the ignition cam sensor. Now all it does it backfire? Am I missing something? Marked the ignition sensor and replaced exactly. Won't start just backfires.

How many degrees at 2500 rpm (full advance) on my std 80 1999 evo softail? 35 or 42,5 degrees ??
@robertbencze4660

depends on what you set it to with a timing light. your ignition module controls the advance rate along with the voes.

Robert Bencze I can't find a good explanation on how to set the org ignition of 80 evo will you explain how you do it?
@robertbencze4660
5 жыл бұрын
@@rhn7442 if you don't have an ignition module with the static timing light on it then you'll need to get a regular timing light and open plug on the side of the case and set it that way. You should also have a Factory Service Manual... It's all in there.. Or at the adjustment plate you can set the mounting screws halfway in the sliders if the ignition pickup plate and then as you turn it counterclockwise 2* at a time (advancing timing) take it for a ride till it starts pinging around 2500 RPM and then back it down so it doesn't ping. That's another way to do it if you don't have a timing light and manual..

The oem is a combo cps/tilt switch so it's not a direct replacement.
@robertbencze4660
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is correct The CPS has a altitude switch that recognizes if the bike went down to kill the ignition... Half the time they set up. They don't always work..
