I'm really happy to see a dermatologist confirm that physical exfoliation is not the devil. I have very sensitive skin and have had negative reactions to chemical exfoliation.

Exactly why I even came to this video. All these birdbrains feel real cute saying "ugh never use face scrubs they just tear up your skin, you need to step your game up to chemical exfoliants, blah blah blah. That stuff is bad for your skin." Um, No chick, you simply lack grace and scrubbed your face as if you were scrubbing floors 🤭. 🤷🏾♀️ Not once ever has my apricot, cornmeal, or even baking soda scrubs caused a breakout or irritate my skin. I have dry skin that's prone to hyperpigmentation so exfoliating is very important for me. And I'm lucky not to have sensitive skin, so I'll stick to what's been working for me for 10+ years with no side effects 😆 VS running after chemicals that will cause my skin to be sensitive to the sun 👀 Um, excuse me, but I'm Caribbean. Sun sensitivity is a complete no-go 🙅🏾♀️. Why would I ever bring such an inconvenience onto myself? 😖😅

I exfoliate twice a week. The two times a week I use a chemical exfoliation one day and a physical exfoliation the other day. Basically, I chemically exfoliate once a week and physically exfoliate once a week.

Omg SAME. Chemical exfoliating RUINED my skin. I used it for almost 6 months and my hormonale acne around my month got worse and i got hyperpigmentation. I went back to physical exfoliating and my hormonal acne calmed down and my hyperpigmentation is slowly going away thank god. It was a nightmare😪

Thank you for this Dr.Lim!!! i follow religiously and have a few yrs now.... i wld like to add please.... Apple cider vinegar is an amazing all natural AHA and 1 of the most excellent hands down EXCELLENT exfoliants i use. Like you said, understand your skin, i use only once or twice a week as it is highly potent but nonetheless acv works wonders you can google too, its also what Scarlett Johansson uses. I don't have to dilute mine but some need to.. Its all based on your skin type. Thank you for this vid!!! Just wanted to add that for a holistic alt/ natural option (i use tretinoin as well, i do a combined approach to keep my acne at bay), n this reduces appearance of scarring as well. Thank you again!

I just love my acids. Somehow my skin has acclimated to kojic acid, ascorbic acid, glycolic acid, and a pinch of salicylic acid. Although, I can't use my 20% glycolic acid pads every day now that I'm using an exfoliating wash cloth in the shower. I have been using the washcloth along with a Koji San kojic acid soap with good results, although it is hard to tell from all these actives I've been using. I tried alternating glycolic acid with retinol/Differin, but my skin threw a fit. I tried Differin without all the acids for a couple months, and I was not impressed. I ended up with blotchy skin along with the pimples. Glycolic acid is my favorite acid out of all the acids I've tried. My husband told me I have glowey skin! 😊

Note - not all facial brushes are the same. The cheaper ones are cheap for a reason. Look for ULTRASONIC technology in a facial brush (they have them with silicone heads as well, not just bristles). Ultrasonic cleansing is a deeper, more effective cleanse. Other brushes just basically spin. Btw-Clarisonic went out of business, but there are others in the market.

That’s because AHA/BHA/PHA ‘s really cause skin purging or breakouts at first. Ideally, once starting out the acids bring out the already stuck dirt from down under which is why it seems that way, but results are so so much more worth it after skin purging
