Hi Kathi, I didn’t explain it very well in the video but this store is 3.5 hours from our home in Anchorage. When we travel around the state we like to stop in at grocery stores and see the prices. Anchorage still has higher prices than most of the US but not this extreme. It would be so hard to have to pay these extremely high prices, I would have to change a lot of my habits for sure. Thank you so much for watching, I am glad you are enjoying the videos. It means a lot to us to have people watching and commenting! Have a wonderful week! - Lauren

I am from New Orleans Live in Wyoming now..... And as for the prices at the grocery stores in rural Alaska...... You have to understand that they do not have semi trucks that come in-and-out every day like we do in the lower 48..... So most times you're covering the cost of aviation fuel In the bush planes,,,

Dont be discouraged the iga brand supermarkets are independent, so everywhere they are high. Usually in inner city's, or remote areas of a state. They even assume they align with gas stations grocery stores lol

Hi Kathy! Thankfully I have many other shopping choices here in Anchorage, in this town of Glenn Allen, this is the main grocery store so you have to budget very carefully when shopping. I drink Alpro soya which is £1.40p for a 1L carton or Oatly Barista £1.80 a 1L carton both are usually on club card price for £1. I just looked on the Tesco all and 6 pints of whole milk is £1.60 also semi and skimmed are the same cost. Apart from the cost of living, it's a beautiful place. Sending love 💞

We have IGA here as well and prices are steep compared to the big chain grocery stores as they are independently owned. Dont get me started on milk, does anyone these days just drink regular cows milk? I think not. Im full fat regular cows milk and cant stand Oat, Rice, Almond, Soy milk l mean lets be serious how do you "milk" an Almond😂 my Miss teen loves all of the milk free milks, she has a whole line up of cartons of them tbh they make me gag. The milk free options are very inexpensive here long life almond, oat, soy is about $1:50 per litre or sometimes less. Fantastic if you have dietary restrictions or intolerance as its accessible and cheap. Me l like mine from a cow. Thanks for sharing, hope you got your Taco craving sorted👍

Holy moly! Who can afford those groceries? 🤯 Do people make alot of money to afford these prices? I understand the travel aspect needed to get the products delivered but still! It's crazy! What happens if they don't sell all of the perishables? Do they discount them, donate or just throw it out? It would be a shame to waste meat, dairy, fruits & vegetables. Curious? I watched some one make fire weed jelly. Have you heard of that? The flowers are beautiful! When I do drink milk it's skim cow's milk. I don't like the thickness of whole milk. I also don't need the fat! 😂 I've never tried soy, almond, oat, or any other type of milk. I would like to try them though. Glad y'all had a great vacation! Gotta get that outdoor fun in before kids go back to school & winter comes! 🏫🎒❄️🌨️🧣🥶

Hello! I’m not sure who can afford these prices. You would have to be really careful with your budget. I think a few things help people, they subsidize with fish and hunting, and they make trips into Anchorage and buy lots of things to supplement. Wages are a bit higher in Alaska in general, but it is still tricky. As for the food, I am not sure what they do. I am sure they have some program to donate things. I have made fireweed jelly as a teenager. The color is beautiful but I feel like it is just sugar and color. We make lots of raspberry freezer jam and have honey for our bees so I haven’t taken the time to do fireweed jelly. We soaked up every last minute of summer, we got a few more videos coming before back to school.

Prices have increased a freaking lot all over. Hit 28110 to see prices in that zip code. It's even worse for y'all living in Alaska.

Yes, it was so expensive at this store. Where we live in Anchorage it is around $3.79, still more than most places in the US. I need to try oat milk in smoothies, sounds wonderful! Thanks for watching!

These prices are extremely high. Thankfully they are quite a bit lower in Anchorage but we still have to be careful and budget because things can get quite spendy. Thanks for watching Shirley!

Holy shit, those prices are insane. I pay like 99 cents for a decent size mustard. And salsa is less than 3 dollars depending on size. No thank you..

$20.79 for shit tickets? I'd rather wipe my ass with a pinecone. Toilet paper at ⅓ that price, it's still too expensive.
