Great review. Would have been nice to see you demo the mid-side functionality. Definitely an interesting and great sounding piece of gear.

People talk about this all wrong. Analog summing is neither better or worse than digital summing. The real cool thing about analog summing is, that you can put am analog master bus compressor on the sum, that doesnt need another route of conversion. And also this master bus compressor will work with a very high quality signal, becouse the summed audio is still stacked on top of each other.

Great video! Thanks! Do you drive the gains just to demonstrate the saturation? You then reset them to unity so do you control the gain staging from the DAW send?

Hello and thanks for your video. May I daisy chain 4 8816 summing mixers to the Neve 5060 centerpiece instead of the 5059 satellite summing mixers? I'd rather connect the Neve 8816 to 4 8816 summing mixers!

Is hard panning a mono instrument left & right, such as the bass shown here, worthwhile at all? Hard to find information on this. Thanks in advance.

Can you tell what are you using for parallel processing on the insert mix return. You must have connected the Shadow Hill Mastering compressor on the pre fade insert.

I wonder how to master using mid/side option. Sending 2 tracks to any channels and use mid/side option or there is other option? Like sending to 2tr Input and then process it with mid/side?

Yes you can! You can combine multiple 8816 units using the 2-Track bus linking feature to create a larger amount of summing that is suited to your studio requirements.
Hello i want to know if you can mix without using the transformers, only sum , thanks

I have like 5 streams on Spotify but I love this thing and my 5 fans love it as well. In all seriousness it’s a high quality mixer, it’s made extremely well (don’t listen to people who say it’s built cheap, it absolutely isn’t. From experience, my 8816 has taken a beating and looks and sounds good as new) It’s worth every penny and I would 100% recommend it. Believe me, it’s well priced considering what it can do. My mixes sound so good. Think about it this way. You can spend thousands of dollars 0 per record on studio time and a professional producer, or you can spend a few thousand on good gear one time and do it yourself forever. Definitely saves in the long run. (ps I just bought mine a few months ago, so nothing on my channel or released in general was made with it. So don’t go listening to my shit and thinking that is representative of its sound lol)

£2,700 to add warmth and colour? You can't find plugins to add the similar (or even better) distortion/saturation that the preamps and transformers are adding? 🤔
