I really love your videos, keep going 👍 I have the Storia V3, bought directly from EXT: thay gave me a 650 and 600 lbs springs and the suspension was too stiff. I bought a 550 lbs and the sag indicator 2.0 by Reverse Component (super useful to see on trail how the suspension is working) and now the suspension works quite fine, sag is about 27 and something %, but i could also try a 25 lbs less spring, because i see i have the last 1 cm of stroke that i don't use (on 55 mm of stroke of the 2023 Turbo Levo). So, yes, i think you are right when you theorize the Storia needs way less lbs than EXT recommends, especially if you are not a racer on fast lines.

Dario, the CEO of EXT, said that they switched to the bladder because it allows for a smaller piggyback to improve clearance on certain frames.

Totally agree, had this combo. The head set will break or the bearing will auger out the carbon. Had both happen. Just get the cane creek 44 headset.

You are absolutely right on spring rate. Yesterday i took my brand new e-storia to the bike park for a first ride and it felt like a jackhammer and despite running the compression knobs wide open it would barely budge. I used to run a 450 spring on my old dhx, an admittedly high rate for my wight, and despite dropping to 400 on the new e-storia my sag was still 26%. (The ext calculator put me square on a 400 for a 28-29% sag) I am by no mean a gentle rider and still had to noticeably move my weight over the rear wheel in order to create enough load to make the shock performance manageable (with all the drawbacks of riding with little force applied to the front). I'll probably have to go for a 350lbs spring to achieve the famous magic carpet feeling out of this shock

Sprindex coil, play with it, add 50% compression low and high before you start. Play with the spring only have your mind blown. It will screw up your fork setup, because the shocks doing so much work

Dude you've been tempting me on this shock. I bought a WRP yoke and a Cascade link for my 23 Stumpy Evo for my mixed wheel. Cascade is supposed to give a 15% off on EXT if you buy their link, which I have. I'm so tempted to just do it.

Are you planning on trying a Bomber CR with WPS Podium kit / tune ? They have fitting centers in most parts of Europe and some in North-America and cost ~200$ install + 300$ shock so quite cheap and heard performance is very good.

Ive been running formula for a while and its amazing just no body uses it and it would be nice to see if ive set it up wrong

If it feels good don’t worry about it. They are some of the worse shocks on the market for yoke strut Specialized bikes. So I have skipped them for now I read into specs looks like a solid shock

Just think of + as adding damping. It's confusing b/c it says LSC/HSC so you'd think you'd be adding ease of compression (or decreasing damping) with a plus sign. Once you see it's "plus damping" then it clicks.

Hello, thank you for the video. May I ask, I am strugling a bit with the preload setting of the coil. I know the EXT recommends only two 360 turns from the moment the spring gets tigh, BUT.. The right moment when the spring is tight is with the load of the bike itself? Or am I supposed to unweight in by pulling up by the frame? If its the first option, as I saw somewhere, that men, when I find myself in the air the wheels drops and the spring might goes loose? Please, could you tell me whats the right procedure? I thik the spring preload affect the stroia performance so much I wanted to have it right. Thanks!
@JaggedTusk

You want to set the preload with the shock off the bike. Turn it just enough to prevent the spring from rattling around. It's generally best to use the least amount of preload necessary. No more than 2 full turns of preload.
@OtterMTBtech

What spring are you using. Your not suppose to tighten it to much. I added 4 full turns of preload to the shock to get the right sag rode great. Don’t listen to the internet. Get the sag right

coil lenght has no effect on compliance as coil springs have virtually zero breakaway torque, the smaller coils will not give you better performance other than a decrese in weight
@troymortimer3487

do you think stroke length plays an effect on compliance? most DH rigs run a longer stroke shock, so I assume it has some benefit otherwise I assume they could run smaller stroke shocks. any thoughts?
