Some lovely meal ideas and I appreciate the ‘on a budget’ ‘cheap’ sentiment however there doesn’t appear to be anywhere near enough here. Two bananas and 3 apples for a family of 4 - that doesn’t cover your minimum fruit intake nutritionally for a day let alone a week for 4 people!

There definitely isn’t enough fruit and veg, but I focused more on veggies in this challenge than fruit. I’m not sure you can get in all your requirements in this low of a budget…that’s something to shoot for in the next one! This was definitely an extreme budget where I tried my best to create balanced meals with little money

Love your video! The black beans you used was actually a type of soybeans, same as edamame. It is very nutritious, especially the one with green insides. Asians love them.

I love your hair! I don't like to focus on appearances because what's on the inside is much more important than what's on the outside but I just love your hair it's so pretty 😊 you're a beautiful person inside and out!! You make English muffins look so easy!! 😅 Might have to try those! Everything looks so good and your videos always make me hungry 😂 I'm 20 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and now I'm STARVING GIMME ALL THE FOOD 😂😂😂 I appreciate you leaving in the messes that happen because that's real life and I would have done the exact same thing with the pressure cooker 😂

Some lovely meal ideas, always really inspiring watching you meal prep. 😊 When I make beans I always let the pressure cooker natural release, cleaner way to do it for one but the beans are much more flavourful that way, I've heard it completes the process better doing it this way. Also I never season them until after they're cooked as adding salt at the start can make them tough and will always make them take longer to cook too. It was interesting to read below that you went to Perth for a trip recently, my sister lives there, I'm from Adelaide in the hills and I think Adelaide is the cheapest state in Australia, think you'd really enjoy visiting here, more to see and do in Adelaide and a much more affordable place to go, not as hectic as Sydney also, highly recommend! 🤗 🏞️🍲🌳🍁

It's very easy to make your own vegan mayonnaise. Just substitute the egg for some chickpea aquafaba. (You do need an immersion blender for this) It's a lot cheaper than store bought mayonnaise and probably healthier too.
@TheConscientiousEater
Жыл бұрын
Yes so true! I’ve done that before but for some reason vegetable oil is expensive her so it didn’t fit in my budget. But over the long run that’s a way cheaper way to go!
@mn9129
Жыл бұрын
Where we live vegetable oil is very expensive too 😥 But, I've calculated it and still homemade mayo is a lot cheaper than store bought, even with the expensive oil. But that may differ tremendously per country, we don't live in the US nor the EU and prices of slightly processed foods are so expensive here.

The black bean tacos look amazing! I'll try my hand at the tortillas. The peanut noodles are a good budget friendly idea too, so I'm gonna try that with the peanut sauce. My kids will love that. U always have such good ideas. Fyi, I make dried beans in the instant pot weekly, and you don't have to soak them before! I cook on high pressure for about 25-30 minutes depending on the bean. I too have gotten black bean juice all over my walls and cabinets too 😂

Some great ideas, Faith. I cook my chickpeas on the stove top like you did here and for me, they do take at least 45 minutes. They are the only bean I cook from scratch because I don't like the taste of canned.
@silviamagda
Жыл бұрын
May I give you a tip? If you want to save time, make a big batch of chickpeas at one time (a 1kg bag for eg) and freeze in portions. I cook them once and then I use them many times. It's so efficient.
@cyndij8312
Жыл бұрын
@silvia magda Great tip. I already do that but I first freeze them on a cookie sheet before putting them into one bag. That way I can use just what I need. Chickpeas are actually my least favorite bean so I may replace them with another white bean like navy or Great northern.
@silviamagda
Жыл бұрын
@@cyndij8312 i freeze them in bags, in portions. And you know what I do to avoid freezing them first on the baking sheet? When they're half frozen in the bag, I move the chickpeas in the bag. This way they don't clump together. I hope it helps. And yes, you can freeze any bean.
