To be honest, he sounded too much like Nas. He grew up in a era when Nas was literally the Rap God, and out of everyone, meaning all of Nas Wanna be’s, he sounded the most like Nas. He had Nas style down packed almost better than Nas had his own style. I don’t know about the blackballing story but in my opinion, he sounded too much like Nas, I never seen someone emulate every aspect of Nas the way he did. Maybe that is why Nas pressed pause on his project, or maybe he is mistaken

I think it was a bunch of different things that played into Ali Vegas not blowing & getting blackballed.. from the Fab & Dj Clue beef, to the Nas friction.. it was more then just one thing. Crazy too, cuz Veg was that dude! Even if never blackballed & he just didn't blow commercially on a big label he still shoulda had a better career then he did. Veg was such a standout from other up & comers at the time, he not lying he really was being compared to OG hip hop God's as a teenager! He was in a class by hisself. His raw talent, flow & skill deserved way better then he got. but Veg was a unfortunate casualty of alot of different things in play & a different time & Era 😔😔 Sad.. cuz he'da been gucci in this era where artist don't have to depend on Labels like that anymore. But it was a different time & era back then.. you needed a Label & deals to make it. He definitely was a real & rare potential great that slipped thru the cracks 😔 one of those kinda sad casualty storys from that time & era in hip hop 😔

If you remove all the bullshit?........Ali Vegas was NICE. And I feel like he could've been an actual Super Star and A Staple in hip hop during a time when NY Wasn't producing ANY Super Stars. I kinda feel like his career not flourishing is more of OUR Loss than HIS. The joint "King Of New York" he did on one of those DVDs back in day?? That shit Was FIRE. Son Was Dead Nice bro. 💯

Queens and Long Island ran the Golden Era of Hip Hop in my estimation. Long Island Rakim EPMD Dela Soul Public Enemy Biz Markie Freddie Foxx Leaders of the New School Grand Daddy IU Keith Murray K Solo A Plus MF Doom RA the Rugged Man JVC Force Craig Mack may he rest in peace Prodigy from Mobb Deep may he rest in peace Method Man Long Island born Buster Rhymes Long Island raised Roc Marciano Soul for Real Ashanti and Queens Run Dmc LL Cool J Long Island born Queen raised Mc Shan Tragedy Capone Nore Nas Nature Ali Vegas Superlover Cee and Casanova Rud Salt and Pepper Kid and Play G Rap Main Source Tribe called Quest Mic Gerinamo Lost Boys Moob Deep Akiynele 50 Cent and G Unit Stack Bundles Rest in peace and Chinx Drugs who had ties to Queens and Long Island. I always felt Queens put out the most heat but Strong Island was putting out heat as well. And im from Strong Island so i might be bias but its facts. You can say Rakim and Nas are two of the greatest to ever do it and Run Dmc and Public Enemy are two of the best groups to ever do it. Q Boro and Strong Island ran Hip Hop during the Golden Era

If the playing field was fair for Ali Vegas who was just a kid back in 99 he would have been an NY rapper icon and world renowned artist on par with Jay and Nas. His first album Generation Gap was the next best thing to illmatic. When I heard it, I immediately thought that it was an instant classic and still do. Much respect to Ali Vegas. 🔥👊🙌🏼
