If you do FA off long enough, then FA on feels really constrained and unnatural. Keep it up! Moxen Wolf’s tuts are the best!

I'm enjoying it more and more. My biggest hurdle was finding a controller mapping combo that worked for me without compromising shortcuts for everything else! The joys of console.

I've watched the vids you mention. I didn't even know this sort of flying was even possible, and I love the way that Frontier have designed these stations so that you can do this. Looks like you've well and truly learnt FA off now. Seeing this makes me want to give it all another try, as my first few goes were terrible. Great vid, and I love the way you've flown round totally different to the tutorial vids and have found your own ways round o7!!!

I do find navigating the station great fun. The scientific outputs ect are also superb. It's amazing the tiny gaps you can fit a sidey through. Not sure if you're on console. I've mapped strafe to the two thumb stick buttons. I've then re-mapped those to the back paddles on my Elite controller. That gives me all 6 degrees of freedom without taking my thumbs off the sticks on both types of controller. What a difference!

@@WiggyB yeah I'm on Xbox too. I was running an Elite controller but have since got a Thrustmaster. I've found it easier to control but I've yet to have a proper stab at FA off. Seeing you have this kind of fun round the station makes me want to learn though.

Hey Wiggy, What controls are you using for this? HOTAS , Keyboard or something else?

I play on Xbox and use an Elite controller. Left stick pitch and roll. Right stick yaw and vertical thrust. Bumpers accelerate/decelerate. Stick press buttons are left and right thrust. I have the bumpers mapped to my front two paddles and the stick presses mapped to the back two. That means I can control all 6 degrees of freedom without moving my fingers about. Hope that helps.

Using a stock sidey is a mistake I seen propagated in a lot of internet FA off tutorial videos. You really want to be using a FDL with class A dirty engineered thrusters. Why? Because the stronger the lateral thrusters the easier it is to fix mistakes and ppl at the beginner level will make a lot. Compare and contrast to ship with terrible laterals/inertia like the conda or imperial ships. Most players wont be able to do what you are doing here. Absolute best place to learn vectoring is on a planets surface and just use your thrusters to simulate how your ship does fa-on. Very quickly then 'clicks' into the subconscious what fa-off thrusters are doing, the horizon is also a constant reference point.
