Lovely. I especially like how you have memories with each piece. You have inspired me to use my stash of linens that I inherited from family. But, they also just sit in a dark drawer, never seeing the light of day. Hopefully, I can make something beautiful out of them that will, also, be enjoyed by others when I am long gone. Thank you for the beautiful video.

Thank you for this idea! It is a great way to display and preserve the artistic value of old and new textiles, as well as making a memory banner. It probably would be useful to teach and participate with a new sewist on a simple project. I like to ponder over old sewing kits and the contents of old sewing machine drawers to guess the life and thoughts of those who once owned them. I am learning the meanings of sewing terms from you such as “bunting.” Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦

Love the shapes you created for your bunting, I have always found the triangle shape a bit jarring, this seems a much softer shape. Have to confess to being mesmerised by the moving dragon in the background, presumably hanging from your ceiling 😂 Enjoyable video.

Gorgeous bunting Marion. I couldn't agree more re honoring the work of others by repurposing /using these pieces rather than them being discarded or unused. I have collected embroidered linen/doileys for over forty years, and am currently (very slowly🙄) creating curtains for my studio out of these. There are so many ways these hand stitched treasures can be turned into new stories. Lovely gentle video, thank-you Marion🪡🧵

Marion you have got to make that sewing accessories fabric into a skirt at least and patch or something with the scraps! That and the garments fabric is a 'Must have' when seen so time to use? We've all bought then not wanted to cut it up until it's perfect for a new project. Took a Golden Wedding Sampler to my cousin's yesterday (I was a bridesmaid) and could have done with bunting yesterday as the rain was heavy as ten of us sat under their sheltered carport for our meal!😂 Heavy rain all the 2-hour journey there. Thank goodness that wasn't the case fifty years ago! Looking forward to your next time.

Very nice! And you are so right about reusing beautiful things from past times. So many have become thrown away because people don't respect the time and hard work that was put into the pieces. I am 66 years old this month. It took me some time to realize what these things meant. I think because here in the US we move around so much. Our families are spread out all over if we have any family left at all. So thank you for making these little beautiful pieces important.

Brilliant Jacque! I've got a project to start making them into a blind for my sitting room window. I think the light will shine through them beautifully! Yes, It makes me sad to think of so much just hidden away in drawers and then sold at =boot sales or given to charity/thrift shops. Of course it means we can get them for not much money, but the point is that mostly no-one sees their value. And it was people like you and me putting their craft to use making something beautiful...

I was so happy when I sat down to stitch that there was a new video from you to watch. I love that you are a kindred spirit in wanting to use what we have and reduce landfill. I adore the old linen doileys and have a huge collection that I’m currently letting others love as much as me. I can’t bring myself to cut the perfect ones but am still hoarding the ones that are damaged so that I can use them. Your bunting is so sweet. I think I need to make some for myself to put upstairs.

Morning Karen. I totally agree. There's always really beautiful ones that you just can't cut up! But I'm old fashioned and wil still use them on my table😊 sometimes marked ones virtually get given away because mostly people don't want them. It's a shame really 😪 I'm amazed at how many people are messaging me about stitching along. It's opened up a whole new world that I hadn't connected with before. Lovely to hear from you. Happy stitching Karen 😊

Absolutely beautiful! What tales all those pieces of textile could tell! I smiled when you said about the ones who originally did the embroidery had little idea that you would still be admiring their work! Last summer my daughter and I bought some old table cloths from a shop in Wiltshire which were beautifully embroidered, and they are now in a new home across the world in the Middle East! it's a lovely thought that maybe at some time in the future someone will be admiring my work.
