This video brought back some really lovely special memories of making jams, chutneys and marmalade with my grandma ☺️. Save for the oranges she grew all of the ingredients, like fruit and such in her garden, I used to help with the harvest and then I was supervised in the making of the preserves. My job mainly was chief stirrer ☺️. Of course the best part was the tasting the fruits of our labour. I absolutely love your skirt Marion, your choice of fabric is perfect! 💕

So glad someone else knows when their jam is set by the sound it makes. And your jam pan is exactly the same as my grandmas - but she cooked hers on a little old wood stove in stinking hot summers in Victoria in Australia. And I’m so glad too that you eat your marmalade with toast and not bread - way better. And we seem to be a similar age, so I’d rather do without too, than use storebought jam that’s mostly just sugar and gelatine with bit of fruit waved over the top. I’ve started your stitching diary so now the rest of your videos are coming up too. Keep it up, they are delightful.

Loved watching you “ go about your day”! When you mentioned your workshop with Frances Pickering- I couldn’t place her name but I knew I had heard it before!!! I looked down beside my “ stitching chair” and there were her two books that I just gotten about two weeks ago shipped from the UK!!! I had seen a page from one of her books on Pinterest- I was mesmerized- so I got the books then got COVID so there they sit!!! You are so fortunate to be able to attend in person- the books are a bit difficult for me to make out-you would have to see them to understand- I’m not criticizing Frances or the books- it’s just that I didn’t know where to start with all that information- so I’m so glad to think that you might included your version of all the wonderful things she shows! Love your bird and the cut out daisy paper page!!! I bet ideas from the workshop are exploding in your head!!! It is so expensive here in the states. In the cold winter of Idaho panhandle, something sweet with a great cup of tea is really needed. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us. I feel so blessed in discovering your channel. Do not give up making your art and sharing with us. I almost feel, I can hear your husband cheering you on, as you create a deeply rich artistic life. How we spend our talents, makes life worth living and enriches all those we share it with and you are a super star!

Marion, I have been dipping into some of your videos and wanted to say that I have found them and you such a joy and a delight. I actually had tears in my eyes seeing your joy in the lovely hand stitched dress you made and put on to show us all. It s also somehow like sitting with a like-minded friend, sharing activities and learning. Just lovely x

Delightful Marion thank you. I am currently seeking out bits of material to commence the hexagon quilt as you go project. I found some pretty pillowcases and old doilies to use as well. Thank you Marion.

Lovely video thank-you Marion, I am slowly catching up. Gorgeous fabric and pattern, sewed up very nicely. Beautiful little books you created, Wendell Berry is one of my favourite poets. Do you know Mary Olivers poetry? She is wonderful also and writes a great deal about the natural world. Heading over to check out Frances Pickering, thanks for sharing, marmalade looked delicious.🥰💖

Hello Maria. I do know Mary Oliver too. Her writing is lovely, but I do have a soft spot for Wendell Berry. A new poet I have recently found out about is Mary Walker. She writes so beautifully...

More fun to watch! I got some great tips for jam making as well. And is that a bobbin lace pillow I see in the background. I dabble in that (as well as many things, same as you) though I have my finger in too many pies😂. Thank you! I am near Atlanta Georgia.

Yes I made torchon. I think it's the easiest one to start with. I used my very first piece on one of the pages of the first book I posted on my channel. I think it's the 4th page...

Such a lovely day! Thank you for sharing. My family uses this same method of making jam, except we turn the jars upside down.🙃I don't know why - it's just always been done that way in my family, and I continue to do it now.☺

Do you make your pleats all the same size? I noticed you didn’t measure. I think you just eye it. You’re a good sewer.? I’m an “okay”sewer, but I do have to follow a pattern. You make the cutest old fashioned Clothes. I love them!
@marionsworld24

I aimed for the same size pleats. But you're right, I never measure them. Because I know that it will look fine and no one I know will look at me wearing it and be mentally measuring up the pleats... They'll just see a pretty skirt. It's not that I can't be precise if I want to, more like I choose when it matters to me..☺️ I've just made another of these in linen. They're such super skirts to wear. You don't need a pattern for it, it's only two oblongs of fabric gathered or pleated to your waist measurement. You should have a go if you like wearing skirts. ☺️👍

@@marionsworld24 I’ve made my own clothes from the time I was twelve yrs old. It use to be so much fun! Then when I had children , I got myself four boys and no girls. But I even had so much fun seeing for them. Four boys over 13-14 years made lots of Halloween costumes. Also shirts , jackets and suits to wear to church. I never made jeans. Had no interest in them. I made clothes until I felt I was too heavy to make them.now I pretty much do counted cross stitching and quilts.But your Chanel is a delight so much, and I want to make all the “stuff” you do! I love them!
