I noticed the problem said "you can only have 3 *unmastered* classes", so if you master a class, can you train in a new unmastered class? Consider the following example: Character has levels 9/9/9, levels up to 10/9/9, but then is allowed to choose a new unmastered class to level up in. ie. 10/9/9/1, then the character can level up to 10/9/9/9 (total levels: 37) before taking a level to 10/10/9/9. Ans: 37 if however you can only have at most 3 classes ever (which is also what I thought on my first read of the problem), it's Happywolf94's answer

Yep, if you have three classes at 9/9/9, you couldn’t take a new class (9/9/9/1). You have to master one of those three classes before you sink a level into a new one. Let’s say you do so and are at 10/9/9. Now you can take a new class the next time you level up (10/9/9/1).

The level cap is 50, meaning you can have 5 mastered classes at the maximum. But you need to have classes mastered already before taking a 4th or 5th class.

I found a pretty great pdf of the books and i freaking this game didn't find anyone to play yet but still to the classes to the setting and freedom of customisation this is one of the best newer rpgs out their. You should check out bunkers and badasses for your next video if your a fan of borderlands

Level 37? Before reaching 2 mastered class, you should have 1 mastered class at lvl 10, with that you can only have 3 other unmastered class. If those 3 classes are level 9, we get: 10 (for the mastered class) + 9 + 9 + 9 (for the maximum number of non-mastered class), for a total of 37.

I liked the attribute + attribute variable die size mechanic that i stole it for my own battle shonen themed ttrpg. It simplifies adapting the system to different settings which I'm sure was the intent.

Combining two attributes that way also has a normalizing effect, making doing things outside your character's wheelhouse viable. In Ryuutama, where Fabula borrows the variable dice size; there wasn't really any bad choices for how you distributed stats since there was always SOMETHING each stat could contribute to. The Merchant class, for example, had a skill that used Spirit and Intelligence to influence the cost of items. However! Since travel checks in Ryuutama were Strength and Dexterity, you'd quickly wind up getting beaten and battered by the environment if you maximized your stats for this skill. The flip side, though: if you built a Merchant for surviving travel checks, you'd roll poorly for that skill, but...Strength also affected Carrying Capacity, and that skill I mentioned earlier requires buying or selling 4 copies of an item at one time. So it puts you into a position where you have to consider if you want to maximize the roll for that skill, or not have to rely on the rest of the party at all times.

Glad you are uploading a little more frequently! And Fabula Ultima has been such a blast, I can't wait to play it some more. And the math question isn't it 28? First Class level 10 Second Class level 9 Third Class level 9

My videos take a bit of time for me to produce, so I try to work on several at one time, then schedule them so they trickle out over time. And I also try to write them so that they're still relevant even some time after uploading. (I've got people watching my Shadowrun guides to this day, even though I published those years ago!)

Fabula Ultima is really just a grab bag of many great mechanics put into a beautiful package

Aaron: "Using Pronouns make gaming so much easier. For instance Alex, heals Ivan, while Igor stands guard. You see? So needlessly convoluted! Its faaaar easier to say instead: he heals him, while he stands guard. So ingenious! So brave!" Aaron, buddy (I hope i didn't misgender you! :P ), that was really mental gymnastics. Just say, you like using pronouns and be done with that topic. And, meh, Fabula is beautifully done, but really unnessecary convoluted.

It was actually because I wanted to do a bit from an American educational show. (School House Rock; I did it in one take, btw) I also had a followup later where I was gonna use the full name of a character from a Japanese folk story. (Jugemu Jugemu) But between having a sore throat when I recorded that, and not being as comfortable with Japanese phonemes, I just axed that second bit.

@@AaronderSchaedel how did you come by the name Aaron der Schädel? There surely must be some lore lurking behind that!

@@Dieter-Doeddel In highschool, I really liked the game Disgaea for PlayStation 2. Males mages were called Skulls, and they were my favorite unit to use, so I started calling myself Aaron The Skull. Well, this was also when I first started studying German, my mother's language. So Aaron The Skull became Aaron der Schaedel. (Without the umlaut, since I didn't know how alt codes worked at that time.) I kept the name as is ever since; it's not a correct use of German, but it serves as a hint that it's a secondary language for me.

@@AaronderSchaedel das ist ein cooler Background. Und der Schaedel ist korrekter Gebrauch, Umlaute können offiziell durch ae, oe und ue ausgedrückt werden. Keep creating cool content! 👍 On a sidenote, I actually like BESM 4th pretty much, but I also love GURPS.^^ Doing a sample combat for Fabula Ultima would really help, the mechanics sound pretty complicated so watching them a play could give some context.
