Some advice you didn't ask for: took me YEARS to find the 140's I just bought at a price point reflective of their condition. Main thing I wanted was the tractor to already to be set up for cultivating. Anything in addition to that was just a bonus. Found 2 at the same auction and won both. Full set of cultivators on both and a bonus 1 point moldboard plow. New paint and listed as restored and field ready. they weren't. But since I turn a good wrench not terribly upset.1500 mile round trip to get them. Almost done with the first one and it will be field ready shortly.Got the 2 for a little more than one wore out piece of junk in my area btw )NE Texas). Tobacco country is where they are most common. Try Craigslist for your search. Carolina's,Tennessee,Kentucky:that area of the country.Split grill is early series,1 piece grill is later series.Click on my name for detailed videos of evaluation as bought and current repairs.

The plows are called sweeps and they are measured two ways, the widest point at the back of the wings and the tongue where the bolts mount the sweep to the spring shank. Over the years there have been multiple manufactures of sweeps and they all called them something different. I enjoy your content. Keep up the videos.

I’m going to try to use them on the sunflowers this year. I bet I haven’t used any since I was a teenager and I remember that was on corn at the time.

Been buying some stuff from Burch:nice people. Still working on my set-up on the 140 I plan on using first. Getting there.I did figure out that the plows that go on my C shape spring steel type cultivators are the same plows used on a Covington. Must be a somewhat universal design from back in the day. Those I can source locally as new parts. Rolling cultivators are hard to find here period, much less as good used. Might take a while but I'll find what I need. I see some fab work in my future.....As popular as the 140's were along with the very long production run you'd think parts would be everywhere. Must have gone from the farm straight to the scrap man.

Unfortunately you are correct. A ton of farm equipment goes to scrap.

Be thankful you live in any of the areas populated with these, once you get farther away every piece and part gets pricey and shipped. Stuff I see guys storing in a pile on the dirt in a video is like gold bars here.

amos snow Have you tried Agri-Supply? Round here they have a bunch of stuff for a lot of the offset Farmall and International Harvester tractors. Round here folks use sweeps to cultivate their gardens and to control grass and weeds. Old hands never use shovels behind their rear tires, mainly to run out the middle of the rows prior to planting seeds in a furrow created by the shovel. I have planted, cultivated probably 2,000 acres of tobacco, corn, soybeans, cotton and cucumbers in my short life.

love your videos. we have a 1958 140. Was wondering what size shovel you use on the back? I looked one up, think its a corn shovel or at least the pictures looked like yours.

They are shovel feet but there pretty wide they were made for tobacco I think . You use to could find them in every country store. I can’t find them any where now.

I'm planning on getting a pair of Lilliston rolling cultivators for my Farmall 140, Would you recommend 4 or 5 gang.? Do you know if there are any adapters that will readily fit the cultivator arms on the tractor or have to make custom or can buy any where. You videos are a great helpful

If I was buying some I would go with a 5 gang pair. Sometimes 4 gang pair can leave just a little from the end of the spider to were the back feet are close to the inside of the back tire. As far as hanging them if you watch my video( I was wrong) you should see the hardware you need. It can all be bought from Burch tractors. Online

Jtwes thanks. I have Burch store on my list of places to visit. I had seen them on Facebook. You have really great hard to find information. Thank you for sharing it. My neighbors helped me a little this year with it and I cultivated a lot of corn and gardens. I bought some hillers from Agra supply and new wedge bolts for next year. I have big tractors but really enjoy the feeling of what my family felt when they bought the 140 new. I cherish having it. He and I restored it before he passed but he would never let me use it because he said to many me got killed rolling over in them. My old neighbors said I really looked good on it cultivating with it and smiled really big about it.
