After trying lots of options to get rid of a stye for over a week, I finally went to the doctor. He prescribed Clorsig, but also said a warm compress would be a good option. What he didn’t explain was how to do that. I naturally used a warm wet washcloth. Thank you for explaining that isn’t the best option. I have no idea why your video popped up on my feed other than my phone has been ‘listening’ to me, which is scary. I didn’t google anything about my eyes recently. Hmmm…

The best way to express the eye is after a warm compress is by instilling eye drops of a better quality such as Hi -lo or I-Drop brand. It allows you to massage downward to a slippery eye lid and gently run your finger down the eye lid with out the skin resistance of tugging and sticking.

I suffer from MGD and the warm compress was the cure (I use an electrically powered one from amazon and it does the trick just fine). Having suffered from flare ups of very sore and swollen blocked glands (where most people thought I had an infection or stye) this was an incredible break through and help. I do it every day for 30 mins straight whilst I meditate and it keeps the glands clear but if I miss it for a week or so the glands block up again so it highlights the importance of staying consistent with it. I do suffer from dry eyes still, especially in the winter, so I'm continuously working on that, but delighted that I don't get the huge swollen glands now. P.S before I discovered the root cause by investigating myself I went to an optician and doctor multiple times and they were little to no use. In a nutshell, they said 'you have to live with it'. Don't lose hope people and research these problems yourself too.

I might be different but i find a warm shower works best for me. I get the temp just spot on, i tilt my head into the water, the warm water rinses my eyes lashes and the steam and heat from the water, warms my eyes. Also with the water it massages my eye lids. Once im out i softly pat my eyes and then wipe with a blepharitis wipe and im good to go for the day. My tears have improved tremendously and my eye dr never thought of it b4.

I'm surprised not more optometrists suggest using warm compresses as a form of treatment to help dry eyes. Here in the UK I was always told to use eyedrops to help and that was the only form of treatment to help with managing dry eyes. But then I was also conscious of using artificial tears to help manage it, rather than help my body produce more of it in this way. Have been suffering with dry eyes for the past year or so and I"m glad I found this channel so I can finally find some better to help treat my eyes!

I wake up with my eye sticky with greenish stuff hard to open my eye. Should I keep doing the warm compress? O~O

Hey thank you for asking and for your lovely comment. I am not sure how long after this is all happening post surgery. But whenever the eye is red, swollen and is associated with discharge, It is going to be important to talk to your doctor. There could be a risk for infection (although Doxycycline is an antibiotic it is often prescribed below the antibiotic threshold for chalazions for it's antiinflammatory effects). Typically warm compresses help, but I would give your doctor a call to confirm what they think is best for you in your case. Hope this helps.

Lasik ruined my eyes too (actually SMILE). I have 20/20 vision, but it's still the worst decision I have made in my life. I just spent a couple of years getting on top of my depression and thought I would treat myself by getting corrective surgery 9 months ago. Now it's undone all of the work I have done and my depression is probably worse. Driving is a liability, as soon as I get home I have to go to bed because my eyes cannot handle being open any longer. When I get up in the morning my eyes are glued into my skull, and I have to very carefully work them loose. If I move them too soon, it hurts them and then they are even worse for a couple of days.

Sorry but my question might be off track.. but I need an urgent answer on my condition. What opthalmologist focuses in corresponding discipline and if surgery need be done, would it be a day or overnight one? Reply would be much appreciated

Thanks for sharing your story Kahan! PCO is very common after cataract surgery and it can cause blurred or foggy vision. Of course, you first need to see your doctor and have them confirm that it what is going on. PCO is thankfully not considered a serious condition and is treated very easily. In fact it takes less than a few minutes to fully treat and remove it using a laser in the office (you do not even have to go back into surgery, it can be done there in the office). So if that is the case, you should not have to spend the night in the the hospital. I hope you can see the doctor and that they can help you with some good news. Wishing you the best. Cheers

Hmmm. Well corneal erosions are a whole different story. Ideally the corneal erosion is treated and is less likely to re-occur. Thanks Rahuul (cool name btw). That can be a tough scenario. If it is just 1 eye that seems to always be the problem, it makes me wonder what could be irritating it. Like if someone always sleeps on that side. Or if there was trauma or something that would explain the unilateral aspect of the symptoms. I like to give your doctors the benefit of the doubt, but i wonder has anything helped??? Otherwise I wonder how you would react to stronger medications or even specialty contact lenses. I never like to give up on people - but some people do suffer from chronic pain and even phantom pain issues. Perhaps it could be nerve related. Either way, I hope you can find a specialist in your area who can work with you and approach it with some level of curiosity, because that will probably be the only way to figure out what is going on. Wish you the best.

@DoctorEyeHealth. I have a microwavable mask that holds beads, it seems to work well. My question is, how do I determine what temperature it is after microwaving. I don't apply it if it is too hot to my wrist, but don't know how accurate that is. Can you help me figure it out please? Or anyone else??

I usually don't worry too much about it myself, but I would probably purchase one of those laser temp readers.

What’s the treatment for sticky eyes after cataract surgery?
@DoctorEyeHealth

Sticky eyes?? Hard to say - if it is anything, its probably dryness and a tear film imbalance after all the medications. Best to ask your doctor what is going on first.

Doctor Please advice ,what do I do with burning eyes in the morning caused by the dried eyedrops. I keep a cup of water beside my bed and wake up 2 or 3 times to wash my eyelids so they don’t get crusty and burn in the morning. It’s not a lot but just enough to burn my eyes. Thank you.

Hey, Doc, how about palming, that's rubbing both palms together and then putting them on your closed eyelids. Your palms naturally heat up not causing any side effects of high heat. That's what one does in a yoga class. Let me know, please

What about cold compress instead? I see people recommend cold tea bags for reducing the redness or cold cucumbers, does that work?

Cold compresses does help with allergies, itch and eyelid swelling. But the heated compress helps with the oil glands.

Thank you for these tips. I definitely need to do the warm compresses daily instead of only occasionally as I'm doing now. I find setting my phone to an alarm for my eye drops (for eye pressure) helps me remember to use them so I will do the same with the compress. I have the Bruder eye compress and I really like it

Are you familiar with Episcloritis?? I’ve been diagnosed with it and even after prescription drops my eye still is giving me issues. I also have blepharitis and horrendous issues with allergies and often get styes. My eyelids are also red and itchy and puffy. Always. I’m at my wits end. Read some comments about using Ivory soap when washing your eyes?? And also using specific laundry detergent?? Would those make a huge difference? Also, would the warm compress help the episcloritis?? I have been battling blepharitis almost 30 years. I can’t deal with it anymore. 😭😵💫

Thanks for the info. My eye doctor told me that I have blepharitis and said to use wipes for it… problem is that even if I get the medicated and moisturizing wipes, the skin around my eye still gets chapped and starts to flake and sting.

I have recently used tap water at the "right" temperature and have it run over my eye area, keeping my eye gently closed. Much more effective than using a cloth that cools quickly. The water is obviously moist heat, too, haha :) Thanks for your tips.

Doctor, Will Lasik effect wear off or will it be a permanent cure?!
@DoctorEyeHealth
3 жыл бұрын
The physical changes to your eye from LASIK will be permanent as the laser vaporizes tissue from the cornea. But your refractive error and need for glasses can still change (although rare) and you will undoubtedly still need reading glasses or some form of vision correction as you approach the age of 45 and older.
