I just took mine apart based on your instructions to clean the z-axis pot. Thank you. You can save yourself a lot of grief during reassembly by separating button 3 and 4 from the handle first. If you look inside there are catches that hold these buttons to the handle that you can unhook. Assemble the circuit board to the handle without button 3 and 4, and then snap them into place after that. This way, you don't have to worry about the rubber plunger coming off.

Just took this pin out, I used the smallest screw driver from my set, and I pushed the pin in from the deeper end. It took some force, but as long as you keep your thumb on the trigger on the opposite end, it should move out. I also found I did not need to remove the entire pin, just pushed it far enough where it was no longer in the black part of the stick that kept the trigger connected to it.

@@cooldad100 Yes I agree with the electrical interference issue. The problem come back few months ago, I redo the same fix, and works again. It's a temporary fix. But now, my T16K has moved to left joystick now that I have a VKB.

I'm watching this because my yaw (RZ axis) is drifting. FIX: open up the top part of the joystick to get to that little yaw sensor. Pluck it out of the main shaft (it's just pressure fit in). Saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and squish it all around that sensor, making sure some alcohol drips into the unit. Work the rotation back and forth with your hands. Let it dry and then re-assemble.
@amdinga561
4 жыл бұрын
@@SushiLikesMeat My very limited, maybe wrong understanding of the problem is that the problem is caused by dust/gunk buildup. Silicon oil might work? Rubbing alcohol works because it cleans and then evaporates quickly, leaving no residue. If you have a high ethanol content clear booze that dries clean... I dunno, it would probably work lol. Make sure you give it time to evaporate though. Also big tip: make sure you have some superglue handy. When I took apart the top section all the rubber bumper pads for the buttons fell out. They didn't stick to the little posts like they do in this video and it was impossible to re-assemble the stick without sticking them in place first with a little dab of glue.
@SpaceGaucho_

thank you. this helped me fix the Z axis issue on the stick. shitty quality control on thrustmaster's part made hot glue stick to the sensor (guess they intended it to be used as insulator on on the contacts). removed the part that stuck to the base of the sensor and back in business.

the twist pot only lasted 1.5 weeks on my unit before the typical issues of drifting and madly jumping around happened, I refunded the device and will go for a different stick. apparently flooding the pot with WD-40 and moving it around seems to clear the issues for some, but i was not willing to do that on a brand new unit.

My friend, at minute 25:15 you hit the nerve that brought me to your video.I’m on my fourth of these joysticks, mostly because I like its ergonomics - I have a big hand and it works well with flight simulators with lots of controls, like DCS.The first one (green version) failed on the slider.The second one (orange version) failed on buttons 1 and 2.And the third one (also orange version) failed precisely on the Z Rotation sensor.Let’s see how the fourth holds. If it fails I will try exchanging parts, because at this rate I will have a good stock!Very low quality product, but, surprisingly, its price keeps climbing.

Two of those issues could've been fixed in 20 min. Most importantly the stick Z-axis potentiometer has too much grease in it. Pull the potentiometer out, use something sharp to grind off the soft plastic caps holding it together from the corners, the potentiometer then splits in two parts, pull out the rotating part and clean ALL grease off of it. Then clean the underside part that the metal contacts touch of all the grease that has gotten into there. Lastly slightly bend the metal contacts outwards so they have better pressure. Then just reasseble. There's a reddit thread to goes in depth about this fix. The grease removal was my step once I had to perform the fix the second time. There's no reason to have that much grease protecting that tiny amount of plastic on plastic movement.
