Our neighbor stole our mailbox and address (for context he actually built the mailbox for us like 20 years ago so him warning us beforehand would’ve made it somewhat reasonable apart from the address) and when we confronted him about it he said it was his mailbox and that meant it was also his address on the post, we of course had no words and my grandpa told the post office about it and they contacted the police after he refused to listen to them, long story short they didn’t do anything so now we have 2 houses with the same address right next to each other meaning almost every time we get a new delivery driver they deliver our packages to the wrong house and we have to explain the situation to them and they are usually dumbfounded, this has been an ongoing problem for about 5 years, he also has a camera pointing at our house that he basically watches all day, I’m used to it at this point but I’m pretty sure this is definitely not normal or at least I hope it’s not because I might actually go ballistic if I move and have another neighbor like him, sorry for the rant but this has been building up for a while and I don’t like talking about it in person because it frustrates me.

Yes. A real blacksmith would've forged Damascus steel, pounded out the shape and bevels, heck even the feather shape at the end, all with a hammer. This was just knife making with power tools. Nothing wrong with that but it's far cry from other stuff I've seen guys do on KZitem.

Some people really don’t know the difference between a functional knife and an art piece lol. It would be cool if it was sharp but it’s most likely just gonna be a display piece that’s handled a bit so it wouldn’t be ideal to have it very sharp

Exactly, i don't get people getting mad for it not being functional. Everyone knows that it probably won't be. It is about the looks in this case. Same with any decorative weapon, most of them are not great. Who would use a golden sword? Yet some had those things, not to fight with it.

@@wanderer_oti you say "you do it then" without realizing just how easy it is to do this with the tools he has, it's like making something in a high school workshop lol. I could absolutely do this myself, especially considering there's no actual forging here, just saws and power tools. he held a hammer for a grand total of 0 seconds during this entire process, and didnt even bother to sharpen the thing. He didn't even take proper safety precautions, not wearing any eye-protective gear while using grinders sending sparks everywhere, nor does he even wear gloves sometimes either. One nick from one of those grinders with no gloves and that's the end of your finger gone.

By grinding the profile of the blade instead of forging it, you introduce potential stress fractures. Neat lookin decorative piece tho

No that's false cutting out a shape doesn't weaken or introduce stress points. Forging these details would require cutting the steel with a sharp chisel anyways, so in both cases you're cutting the steel. But it doesn't change anything, modern steels are homogenous. Forging is mostly for saving up material by getting a shape without removing steel, but he doesn't really forge in his videos, he makes a big spatula and then cuts a blade shape into it...

Grinding the profile doesn't weaken it. The particular design he created has potential stress risers where the slits are at the base of the blade. When you forge steel, you create deformations in the crystallin structure of the steel and the heating process causes grain growth. You can do a normalizing process that refines the grain.
