You were one of the first wet shavers I followed when I got into wet shaving, several years ago. I love your videos and still watch your head shave/straight razor shave videos to this day. I'm glad to see you're back.

Totally agree with you. Have the asd2 stainless & needed 6months to learn how to shave with it properly. In fact got so discouraged I gave up de shaving. Luckily I decided to give it another go, & now I'd be happy to shave with this razor 4 the rest of my life. So close!

Real happy you are back! The other day I was wondering "what happened to Thomas from Denmark" and then today you post. Learned so much from you. You have a great way and thoroughness of explaining things without being boring. You are right about using whatever works for you. I love wet shaving, but I don't look down on new multiblade shavers because everything has its time and place. Whenever I am in a rush I'll grab my mach 2 or whatever and when I want a great shave I'll use something nicer. Thanks again Thomas I wish you the best!

+Breeze700 Thats a weird coincidence! Glad you like the vids. Oh and bu the way, I appreciate the comment about not being boring, because I actually have wondered about the lenght of my videos. I thought some might find them too long and boring. But then againg, I really want to cover the review fully, and talk about all the things I have learned about the particular subject.

Im so happy to see you again Thomas. You are one of the reasons why I started wet shaving, through watching your early shaving videos. I prefer DE shaving too. In fact, I sometimes use the Feather Popular razor and I find I have to use it at a steeper cutting angle, compared to say my 34c, which is much easier to use. When you are in the mood, I hope to see more shaving related videos. A good informative video.

I know this has been up for a while now, but nonetheless it's good to see you back brother! I too use a Mach 5 for the final pass on my head... DEs and straights are great for taking down long growth, but they just don't conform as well to my lumpy skull.

+Thomas from Denmark At the moment I am in Germany working at a real estate company, doing a internship in Architecture. Hoping to find a job in Architecture in Sweden soon... just building up on some experience. I have some friends that are doctors and want to find work in Sweden also so maybe I will team up with them :). Looking forward to seeing your bike again. I just passed my A licence and I am looking forward to raising money to get a real motorcycle soon ( I have a 150 cc suzuki scooter now). Cheers man!

+Brebeanu Alex Catalin Ahhh sounds very nice! Motorcycles are much less expensive in both Germany and Sweden, compared to Denmark. Keep saving and it wont be long til you have it. Of course look into the used market for a good deal, unless you really want it from new. Best wishes!

As expected, I snapped and got the razor! It is slightly slippery but I don't find that an issue.. not yet, at least :) It is very nice and the shave feels similar to the ASD2, though I'm tempted to say I had a more aggressively shave with the wooden version.

Hey Thomas, miss your videos! So sad to hear about your 'mood swings', as I can relate to you. I am glad to see you are feeling better, and even more glad to see you made an actual in-depth review of the Feather DE razor. I too have extremely sensitive skin and this razor is the most forgiving razor I've ever used (I once manged to get a BBS shave and the alum block didn't even sting), so I too am bothered when people say It's 'too mild'. Mind the fact 80% of the wet shavers think they have a very dense beard :) There is one thing I wanted to ask you about this razor though - how's the quality control? I've read a few posts in B&B and the other forums about how the quality is much lower comparing to the ASD2. I've heard claims of the wood chipping and cracking, etc etc, but your opinion is much, much more valid IME. Last thing, the length of your videos are great since you don't talk nonsense, and you are a pleasure to listen to. Cheers from Israel ;)

Hey Roee What a nice post, it made my glad to read. I too feel that this is the must gentle and forgiven razor, that will still give you as smoothe a shave as you would like. You are a good example of it is capability, when it comes the get a BBS from this razor. As far a quality control, I am a little confused as to what the arguments against it would be. I have not had any problems at all with the quality of this razor. The wood is holding up great, and thats even with me keeping the razor in a humid environment, and I am actually also pretty lazy when it comes the cleaning the razor, with anything but water, and disinfecting the blade edges with alcohol. too remove bacteria before the shave. So my razor is actually quite stained with calcium, and it does it no harm. As for the wood goes, calcium will leave white marks on the wood of the razor, but these come of easily with vinegar. The wood is raw and untreated coming from the manufacturer and it will loose some of its beautiful black colour over time. However this is easily fixed with oiling the wood, and as the wood soaks in the oil, it will restore the colour, no problem. Rinse with vinegar, and apply oil, as often as you find it necessary. So this razor does require a little more maintenance then the ASD2, but it really only comes down to oiling the wood once in a while. So to summon up, I have no experience with the razor being of bad quality. It is my go to razor, and I have gotten rid of my other, less expensive razors, such as Edwin Jagger, Futur, and what else I had. These razors are way to aggressive on my skin, and they give me a lot of razorburn. I actually only shave with the WS D1 at this point, and I dont see that changing anytime soon. By far the best DE razor a have tried, and like I said, I will shave with this for a long time in the future. I hope this answer helps you out. Best regards Thomas

Yes it does, and I sure appreciate the long, detailed comment. I still get an urge to bust out my Giesen and Forsthoff or my slant Ikon razor, but nothing beats the ASD2. Do you intend on posting more videos? Doesn't have to be about shaving, as all your videos are fun to watch. P.S: I just noticed something I wrote came off as insensitive! When I wrote I'm 'even more glad to see you made an actual in-depth review', I only meant I'm glad you're feeling better, thus you're back online reviewing the WSD-1 :)

No offense taking at all. I have for a while been thinking about doing a video on alcohol post shave, as I feel alot of shavers may not be aware, that alcohol pos tshave does not have to be a no no, but can actually be quite good, if you take your precautions . Your quite has inspired me, I think I will do the video soon. Thanks again

That's great to hear man! I'm thrilled to hear my comment had such impact - probably should've posted it a while ago! It's funny you're into alcohol post shave, as I'm a big fan myself. Personally I can't stand the balms, as they're very greasy and leaves my skin feeling like It's covered in fat. I started off with Nivea sensitive skin and now I own AS splashes by TOBS, Dr Harris and GFT, all alcohol based. Thank YOU, and please - keep them coming ;)

Good to see you making videos again. I'm curious if you feel the feather razor shaves better than a Merkur, Edwin jagger, or Muhle? Is it worth the $200 price tag when most razors are $20-$50 in the USA? Also I am curious if you switch razor blades or just use the feather brand?

Hey Thomas, hope you're doing well. I have a question about your WS-D1 - does the paint happen to peel at the point where you screw the handle? I used my razor only 4 times and some paint is missing already =\ Did that happen with yours as well?
