I was TOO NICE at work and it was a disastrous! You hit the nail on the head when you said agreeable people do not have the energy to compete with skeemers. I feel powerless against people who are sharks and backstabbers.

Absolutely! Sometimes putting in that extra effort in drawing boundaries is an effective way of saving yourself from a lot of stress in the future.

I'm learning to listen to my inner voice empowed by the Holy Spirit that teaches all things. It gives me quiet wisdom. But I had to give up over acknowledging other people like a flippen kindergarten teacher role that i placed upon my self, that stems from surviving trauma

I had another female exec who was a bully, and I stood up to her, and it all stopped after that. The upper management did nothing about it. I had to show her that I'm not a "new girl" she can prey on.

Absolutely! Setting those boundaries prevent future transgressions. We just gotta keep enforcing them.

You described me perfectly! 🤣 I'm highly intelligent and could do a high paying job, but I cannot stand working with sharks and dealing with manipulative assholes. I go to work to work and get a paycheck, not to play psychological games. I'm in customer service, but I actually hate it. Desperately trying to get out also because people drain me and are assholes! 🤣 This is why I struggle in romantic relationships too because I cave in all the time or I get tough real quick (like you said). No in between and negotiating exhausts me because I never get what I truly want from a situation. I only did well as a leader when my staff were all hard working and honest, because they took direction well and whilst they had constructive feedback, they never undermined me or treated me with disrespect. I value being a good person more than a six figure paycheck, but I'm learning that I can still find enjoyment in my life through hobbies and other interests. I don't have to fit the narcissistic model Western society has progressed to. I can be successful with my own set of plans, boundaries and goals!

Yep. Customer service can be especially tough if you don't have a supportive management. You can definitely be successful once you build up the right systems around yourself!

If you have ever taken the DISC personality test, if you are typically more agreeable you are an S-type. They prioritize other people's needs, avoid conflict, and value a lot of reassurance at work.

Yep, that basically mirrors high trait agreeableness in the Big Five
