Great work Ross. Similar to the way I do it, but a bit different. Both end up the same. I will share to my audience so that they can see an alternative to the way that I do it.

Thanks mate, exactly the same result, and it's good to give alternatives. Leaving them in the fridge overnight to firm up is the only real difference. Cheers!

Very useful video. I really miss Redfin. used to eat it twice a week. We would gut it and mum would just tear the skin off. Flour the fish and cook with bones in. We would pick them clean. Still my favourite fish

This is how I remember my pop filleting his redfin caught in the Hume when I was a kid. Thanks so much. I plan to get my boat on the water in the Hume and fish for reddies with my daughter.

I take the skin off before I fillet. I make a cut along each side of the dorsal fin and peel off with pliers. The i do the same as you. Love your videos.

Interesting. Does the skin peel away from the flesh easily? Thanks for the kind comments.

Yes the skin comes off quite easily. Got this tip from Bill Ryan who use to write for NSW Fishing News.

Thanks mate, that was an informative and helpful video. Well done. PS. Where did you get the nice wooden board?

Thank you for the kind comments. The filleting board came from K Mart, but it is 20+ years old. I don't think they are available now.

G'day. I like the your video, If the pin bones were left in in the larger perch, would they cook out too?
@FishtalkVideo

Probably, I always cut them out, but I doubt that they would be a problem. I'm just fussy I guess!

I have, and they come up ok, but generally oily fish work better. Trout of course, and yellowbelly work very well.
