I believe you're correct on this one. But it's good for the audience to be aware that it's possible for only one directional slope to sustain damage during a storm. When this happens, state-specific matching laws are required to for the unaffected slopes to be covered. Many policies also contain exclusions or limitations for roof damage. More and more insurance providers are moving to ACV settlements in the event you have an older roof. In other words, if you have a 15 year old roof, the company will only pay for a 15 year roof less deductible.

My roofing company deals with insurance claim roofs on the daily. My favorite insurance to work with, so far is FARMERS. Never give us any issues, always answer the phone right when we call and payments come immediately. The most inconsistent/never respond back in a timely manny insurance is TRAVELERS…but they do pay in the end. The one that ALWAYS denies roof claims, even if 20-40 shingles have blown off…STATE FARM. Every home owner who has them has been rejected every time no matter how many times they call and try to get a new adjuster.

Looks like he went off HAAG. If it still sheds water its not considered hail damage according to HAAG Engineering. Most insurance companies require their adjuster’s to get HAAG certified so they can all have a standard to go off of and follow. If the metal becomes compromised but does not have a storm created opening and still sheds water then HAAG considers it not “damaged”. Just because the adjuster or steep assist puts a zero “going off HAAG doesn’t mean the claim still can’t get paid for by hail……That’s the “professional” roofers job to try and dispute it by discussing their concerns to the adjuster or upper management. Some policy’s may not cover cosmetic hail damage especially if its a commercial policy. In that case putting a zero would be valid since it still sheds water. He might have just wanted to run it by his manager before making a coverage decision on a claim that big. Not all adjusters might remember if they cover cosmetic or not on commercial claims especially if they do both residential and commercial. I get the argument from both sides as I’ve been on both sides for the past almost 19 years. I’m a legit roofer who has installed over 550 roofs myself (not sub crews. I actually laid the shingles, flashed the chimneys, etc). Was making KZitem roofing videos before they were cool, burning CD’s with photos of storm damaged roofs to try and help save the insurance adjuster time on-site when they came to do their inspection, and was operating Xactimate self taught (wasn’t easy being a 20yr old roofing business owner trying to figure out a new computer program when roofers back then weren’t very computer savy). In 2015, my 11th year roofing I shut down my roofing business for what was supposed to be a temporary gig. I took a job to help build a 3rd party steep assist company so that 1 day (was planning within about a year I’d go back to the roofing business, I’ll know there will be a new better 3rd party steep assist company then just the 1 the insurance company’s basically invented. I’m excited to be coming back to the roofing industry. Got some big plans now that I’ve gotten to see all sides of the game the past 18 years (all the insurance companies and how they operate, all the adjusters and how hard they work, the legit roofers who can sell retail and don’t have to rely on insurance work not having to make damage to roofs, the shady roofers who damage roofs which in my area is 8 out of 10 roofers). About to start some big boy things no roofer or insurance companies are currently doing. Stay tuned. I love your channel. Even though there are some things I’ve listened to and disagree with I still like all the other content. I’d say you’ve got some pretty good insights in the roofing industry. I’d recommend just be humble in the future when you disagree and discuss it with a manager if it was an adjuster who didn’t know the policy 100%.

I ran a number of inspections for Guide One and they seemed to accept my inspection results as an independent every time and promptly paid the church group. I'm not sure if this is entirely representative of Guide One. It boils down to the experience of the adjuster if you ask me. Also, there are many reasons a hail claim can be legitimately denied, like reported date of loss matched to historic hail fall and/or cosmetic exceptions in a policy, so take these videos with a grain of salt.

I’m a public adjuster here in Florida and you are correct that they will try to figure out how not to pay vs pay. The carriers play games that affect home owners homes or businesses. That church roof like you said in 5 years will start to rust and possibly start to leak. If that happens when the church files a claim the insurance company will now say that you have pre existing damage and claim will get denied. File the claim people and hire a PA. Keep in mind that the people who owe you money are sending a paid representative to tell you how much they owe you.

Great video. I can see that a lot of people that wrote in felt that it didnt need to be replaced. As a roofer i can agree with dimity in a lot of aspects and see the PH or adjuster point of view. So one question say the PolicyHolder doesn't file a claim then a year or two down the road it does rust out hell i give you 5 years. then who becomes liable??? Do we expect insurance to pay for wear and tear?? Is that a lack of mitigation on the Policy holders account and should they be liable for the total roof cost. Or is the insurance now liable for the manufacturer who says 50 year roof. but also is saying that it is in oerfect conditions and no ACT OF GOD that disrupts that. AKA would you like to pay me or your insurance pay me and you cover the CO-Pay?

Federal law has actually dictated that on public property or when on private property where you have permission you can legally record without informing them and even if they say no. That said, I hate metal roof claims because the way the policy is written is far too often against metal Roofing.

What is the motivation for an inspector to not take inspections at face value? I am not talking about the insurance company, but the inspector themselves. They don’t own the company, so why lie for them.
@kenlieberman4215
2 жыл бұрын
People don't bite the hand that feeds them. While inspectors do approve claims, they must or the insurance co.'s would be guilty of fraud, they intuitively feel a need to try and save the company money and not approve too many. I don't understand the objection to being filmed, otherwise it's a "he said she said "situation; unless they want the freedom to lie. The fact that this roof was old and had been repainted is why the inspector denied the claim. I don't blame them. If the roof is shot and happens to get hail damage before someone got around to replacing it, I don't feel they are entitled to a new roof. This is why ACV is a better model, it saves everyone money and its easier to get a claim, but it will be for much less money.

I mean... there is an easy answer to your question because it literally only allows one possible logical conclusion. Also, it seems that you are OK with paying someone to take care of something that might happen in the future, and then when it does happen, that person says nah and doesn't repay a dime that you have been paying them over the years. It seems, based on your obvious bias, and the fact that you think the question you posed is similar in ambiguity to the chicken or egg question, that you are incapable of understanding basic fundamental reasoning and logic. Therefore you should go read a few books, maybe climb out of your bubble, and grow up from a sheeple to a real human. Then you might be able to put together a rational thought. Until then, thanks for the laugh. Always tickles me when I find someone who tries to be prophetic but only reinforces their own lack of intelligence. I am glad that I am not you.

A dent shouldn't be a reason for a replacement roof, a leak yes, a dent, no.. thats why our insurance premiums are outrageous
@CarlosMorales-yn2vm
2 жыл бұрын
The reason it’s important to get it paid for when it’s just a dent is because once it’s old enough to be rusted and leaking it’ll get denied for one being old damage, two not being reported whenever it first occurred and three because it’ll be considered “wear and tear”.

So many errors in what he is saying. A church is "private" property, not public. Roofing companies commit fraud daily and promise kick backs to homeowners to sign with them. There are some insurance companies that are tough to deal with but it is NOT unethical to tell them a desk adjuster will review the claim. That gentleman is likely an independent adjuster and does not have authority to make any coverage or payment decisions.
