Terry Gilliam's "The Fisher King" was a classic from that year imo. Both Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams (RIP) were superb in it.

Barry Norman was superb. Not only did he entertain with his excellent reviews the segments give us a great time capsule of the events of the day. Thanks for these. They really take me back.

No surprise that Barry chose Dances with Wolves, The Commitments , Thelma and Louise & Silence of the Lambs . I remember his very last choice Life is Sweet with Alison Steadman ,so I can recall this particular episode at the close of 91. Happy times.

Norman says we must be looking forward to end of 1991. Why? Because of stuff happening in faraway countries we have to mull over while we fill our stomachs with Christmas feast. The horrors of 1991 in the western world. I wonder what he would say today. General societal disintegration is making 1991 look like paradise on earth. These programs are nice time capsules though. Just discovered Barry Norman.

Aaaaaaand GD is currently being accused of sexual misconduct. It's kinda funny that he'd give the "radical feminists" a ribbing while selecting "Thelma and Louise," a didactic piece of feminist propaganda (although I agreed with its message, but that message negatively affected the quality of the film, IMHO) as one of the best films of the year

@@southlondon86 I think Bazza wasn't a fan of Cameron's films. He did think that "The Abyss" was derviative and wasn't impressed with "Titantic" - although he did like "True Lies". Not sure what he thought of the original "Terminator" film though.

Absolutely - I've watched a load of his videos now from across the decades and holy smokes is he a miserable old goat. Every clip I've watched he's been miserable. His interview with Stallone around the release of the original Rocky was the worst, he was so mean to him for no reason. I grew up watching Barry Norman but looking back at all these old clips of both, I wish I had Siskel and Ebert here in Ireland.
