I've just discovered these old videos and have really enjoyed them. Thank you. 😍 I've been amazed at the parallels between your travels and mine but I don't do any research, so your information has been an eye opener. I was introduced to southern Utah in 1972 and have been an addicted desert rat ever since. I'm 75 and just discovered SxSs and will continue exploring the desert SW until my health fails, in another 50 years or so. 😎

Drove down the 6 parallel to the Book Cliffs a few years back. Couldn’t take my eyes off them. They run right down to where the 6 meets the i70, which opens up to another whole load of Utah awesomeness. Utah’s an incredible state. 👍👍

Another great film. The summit view is absolutely epic. I really identify with your mindset: 1 Avoid people 2 Dispersed camping 3 Great views 4 An objective to each hike, be it rock art, a summit, waterfall, canyon etc, This is my No1 channel. Keep 'em coming.

Wow Tristan you are quite the adventurer. I do have a little fear of heights I wish I didn’t. But absolute beautiful scenery that was, thank you so much for sharing. I would’ve had to do most of that in my FJ. I could’ve probably made it most of the way. It takes me to some amazing places when I go up to Canada. It was interesting looking out at all of the little ravines and canyons I love to think about how things like that were made. I live in Michigan and I think about the glaciers making the Great Lakes and all of the hills around here it just amazes me I love nature so much and geology. Thank you again Tristan absolutely stunning stuff.

I feel sorry for people who have a fear of heights. You're missing out! I don't think something as big as an FJ could have crossed the river. I think you'd have to have a much smaller vehicle like a UTV, but what do I know. I love the canyons and ravines too. One of the things I love most about the desert is that since there are no trees, you can just see for miles and miles and see the intricate topography of the landscape. It's great. Thanks Jacqueline!

Wow. What a great video. You certainly checked off all of my boxes. Drive out of the old camp. Road views with arrow pointing to the next challenge. Describing where and how long. The hike up and the incredible views. Holy crap. The views along the top looking down and across the valley. Just unbelievable. Another great camp site with pan around. Next time somebody asks me why I love to climb mountains so much. I'm going to tell them to check out this video.

I saw the book cliffs from I-70 a few years ago. The are aptly named. Very impressive view. My impression from the highway was, they were much more linear and parallel than than they looked in this video. I am curious why the trail road was built. Did the mine the Book Cliffs?

Bitter sweet. Awesome way to end it but sad to see the series go. Question: looking back would you rather have the kayak or a mountain bike?
@SUVRVing
6 жыл бұрын
Kayak. I've done a fair bit of mountain biking in the past, and I never quite took to it. I feel like it's easier for me to seriously hurt myself mountain biking than kayaking, and I like how kayaking opens up very different terrain to me. Mountain biking terrain is the same terrain I can get to by hiking. That said, I'll probably get a mountain bike at some point for when difficult terrain on dirt roads makes me have to park the RAV4, and I could just continue on by mountain bike.
