Nice close up video, anyone porting a saw this should be a good guide for them. 👍

This leans me towards my 038 mag being the first saw I build this winter. Maybe. I’ve gotten to where there are too many to choose from.

It's been extra scorchy this year, hasn't it?! 130F real-feel few days ago while hauling hay here. Makes a feller dream of frozen pipes.

Very interesting, as always. Very much enjoying your thorough explanation on the theory an technique of porting a cylinder. The how and why of it. To me I can't hear it enough times as each cylinder in unique and the same, at the same time. Anxious to see this one run and the 272 build hopefully with the same detail on the cylinder work. I'm thinking on my no-go 272xp I am going to attempt some porting on it. Going to email you a question on timing tweaks. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

Nice video! I've got 13 & 14yo boys that are itching to build a saw & this vid is very helpful. Looking forward to seeing how it runs-

That is a nice saw. I can't wait to see it in the wood. I have been looking at them mostly magnums I seem to find on ebay.

I'm over in Alaska doing a Husqy 2101xp rebuild with a new piston. I like watching your port work. I would love to see a video on how you would add horsepower with light port work for us without timing wheels and keep stock timing.

Hey tinman I ported my first saw this past weekend a husky 55 I got blown up cheap it fired right up but i think it might have an air leak somewhere so now I’ve got to figure that out anyway thanks for all your awesome information you put out on these videos love the channel 👍👍👍

Just putting an auction find ms440 magnum back together. Looks like a tractor had a fight with it. Just plastic damage

I have ONE saw that I had to do twice; had fight with tree and trackhoe on first KO; ran over with skidder on second KO. 440 Mag is good/great saw in my opinion... one of my favorites!

Great content as always. I know I watched someplace on how you start your porting on the lower transfers, how do you get them so straight, amazes me. How do you do your first cuts when you start, which cutters etc. Yours are beautiful, mine not so much.

Nice looking xfers; I got lost on rings entering intake and still grinding them higher with the lungs. Maybe my coffee hasn't hit yet, but that seemed like flirting with a free port problem? Not trying to be critical; just trying to wrap my head around it. Thanks.

I mentioned the rings as they do that stock. I left the center of the upper intake in place to make sure I don't hang a ring on the intake side.

-52.5 was the worst one I remember. Thermometer on the crane crapped out and just blinked at us at -38.5. Nothing likes to work right when it’s that cold

Why do you time the uppers with the underside of the ring beinh at the top edge of the port? Shouldnt it be the upperside of the ring?
