you know it's funny, i remember rouoghly a year ago wanting something like this to happen to Ubisoft, i was just a single dude who heard that CEO's message about getting comfortable with not owning my games. at the time i vowed to never purchase another Ubisoft game ever again and wouldn't purchase any of their game so long as it still belonged to Ubisoft, and for months and months i would tall people in various chats that i wanted them to go bankrupt, and i kept getting naysayers saying this would never happen because the vast majority of players would still purchase whatever slop they made. i hated hearing that, i also hated how people just ignored the CEO's message about this and only focused on the next product, you know that mantra saying, "don't ask questions, just consume product and get excited about the next product" that saying mirrored in my brain and made me realize just how pathetic the average person was because people were still thinking about purchasing the next slop product from Ubislop. anyway i was thrilled within the last few months to hear how much this consensus changed with the gaming audience, suddenly people all over the internet were voicing much of the same opinions as me on this issue with Ubisoft, some people were still hopeful and thinking that Ubisoft would make a good product, but i never believed that so many didn't purchase the scull and bones and starwars outlaws and the investment groups would feel so strongly to bring down their stock like they did, of all people i never thought the stock would go down as far as it's fallen. i have never been more happy to see this happening to Ubisoft and i hope gamers can hold this on this until they make them go bankrupt completely, because i don't trust this IP in the hands of Ubisoft or any other IP in their library, the company is just too far gone off the deep end. i would rather the company sells to another company and that company owns the IP, this thing with the investors i don't trust still, because they still want to keep it in the hands of Ubisoft which i'm very strong against.

I 100% agree with the sentiment, however I would add that having games designed with micro transactions has been a problem since unity. I remember distinctly doing EVERYTHING in unity and still not having enough points to max out the character. It was BS, and the shops have been BS since. Uplay was a cool initial concept, reward players for playing your games and getting cool add-ons and side missions, but now you have to play 4 other ubisoft games just to get enough points to get basic crap on uplay

I bet we can expect to see huge layoffs, selling of a few studios, and consolidating their big IP's that the new owners decide to keep. Open world, objectives on map, crafting system, etc. we've seen it all. I want a genuinely NEW experience unlike anything I've ever played from them before. Start from scratch. Japan has always pushed out western values and control whenever it presents itself. Even after being conquered and having it's constitution written by them they still persevere. Only in very recent years have the invasives had any success in taking over institutions, and the japanese people are turning hardline and radicalizing in response rather then devolving into passivity and self-demoralization like the western peoples are. Naturally this upsets the bluehair's leashholders, who direct their dogs to attack and humiliate japan.

For me it is a good thing that these companies that embraced DEI policies so strongly are going bankrupt, as things are, is the only way they understand that real gamers do not want those DEI things in the games, or they focus on make good games or they better go out of business, let the real developers come back and not these activists that we currently have, and no, I don't feel bad because inept people are left without a job, if they don't do their job properly they don't deserve to be in that job, that's how it worked before, with meritocracy, that today they hire for a diversity and inclusion quota is what led us to the low point we are at.

It is interesting news, but i think the big take away from this is that we made a massive mistake in letting China ignore it's historical debt while claim debt on others, and operate in the open global markets without playing by the same rules as the rest of the world. It's not surprising you might see games being made that undermine rival nations with a company like Tencent involved, given the lack of seperation between business and government in China... unlike the rest of the world. To be fair it's quite possible this will just result in Ubisoft dying as they were likely just a tool in this situation if Tencent has that level of power, and once expended, they will just go to another one. Even if uncomfortable for those who rely on China now, I think in the end it's going to require a real trade war, until China bends the economic knee and at least agrees to follow international trade policies, and opens it's own markets up for exploitation like it does to the rest of the world.

For the design a video game challenge, i couldn't think of any ubisoft i would like redone. So I'll list my own. Its set in the far distant future, hundreds of years after a mutagenic virus created a zombie apocalypse. I can't stress this enough. This isn't going to be another bleak, humans turning on humans zombie story. Its a story of reclamation. About the hope of better tomorrow and rebuilding society not its fall. You play as a military leader of a surviving city state, leading your troops into retaking territory from monsters, and other horrors. Your city state is also your class. Of sorts. At charcter creation you pick a city state that will havebits own tech tree and charcter abilities. For example one gives you power armor from the start and turns you and your men into a walking tank. But its tech tree doesnt get much more different then blowing stuff up more efficiently. Another focuses on technolgy that borders on magic. Allowing you and your men to teleport around the field, summon drones, and even use gravity to lift monsters in the air and throw them. And a tech tree focusing constructing better settlements and gathering resources. But lacking in fire power. There will also be a huge focus on diplomacy as other surviving city states you didn't pick become their own factions who are at odds with each other. While it is possible to pick a side and settle their disputes with violence, its possible to settle everything diplomatically. Which will net you more rewards and maybe a steady income of supplies. If your killing humans instead of monsters... you messed up. This will even impact your troops' morale. Speaking of troops. Think the marines from Halo, but you can upgrade their abilities and customize them like Xcom. They'll will mostly act on thier own during combat. But you can give them comands as well. Making the game a hybrid of xcom and first person shooters with some city/settlement building.

This is just a warning shot . The entire industry relies heavily on Japanese companies. If the c.e.o. is not removed you can wait to see what a hostile take over looks like. Because they absolutely have the power to do it. Japanese companies could very well snatch up every bit of Ubisoft stock within an hr. They could lock down any support ubi might need from any outside company , and it would take very little for ubi to come to a complete halt. No money coming in , lawyers beating down the door , banks going to seize assets . Personally I wish Japan owned ubi. They'd do such a better job. Without woke d.e.i. nonsense holding it back , it would rock the whole industry.

"Focus on Core IP's" I, genuinely, don't believe that's possible. If you notice how that company built it's game engines, you'll have to stop and notice that I used the past tense for a reason. Everything that company has produced, for over a decade?, has been using old engines. They have a huge art department just making random items, in random weather conditions, etc, for that engine - because they "know" all future games will be made for that engine. They - literally - only have art kids and script kiddies left, at that company. Which, is why Star Wars Outlaws is such a train wreck - it's a reskin of Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is why enemies can't interact with you when you're in tall grass - and - why she slaps storm troopers down. That's why this company is done for. Seriously, I don't believe that they have _any_ talented people left at that entire company. I think the DEI people finally "won" and that's how these 2 games, _AssCreed: The Japanese Appropriation_ and _Star Wars: Beyone Good and Evil 2_ happened.

Hell i really hope Ghost of Tsushima 2 gets official announced when AC shadows launch's because Ghost of Tsushima was very well received by critics and Japan actually appreciated the accuracy of the game but AC shadows is getting flak by the folks in Japan and even a member of Japan Diet isn't happy with the way Ubisoft is trying to rewrite history with some culture appropriation bs.
