@@rakzaanjohnson1963 It will make sales due to brand recognition but they probably won't make the sales that they projected making it a flop as far as the company is concerned. I think that much is already evident by the current sales projecting being half as much as their last one. Its still early but I do feel a lot of folk will be sitting this one out. I personally will as well because I respect japan too much to buy this garbage as much as I would have like a real Japanese assassins creed. The fact that japanese hate it says it all to me regarding authenticity. Add to it the plagiarism, lack of attention to detail, racism (both black and japanese), mistaking chinese for japanese and their sheer laziness I feel that there is not much to expect out of this game. If they are already cutting corners, it honestly does not bode well and I don't feel I will be missing much. In college plagarism is instant fall, your prof doesn't even read the rest of the paper half expecting you could have potentially cut corners to safe time elsewhere as well. Ubisoft has really fallen as a company over the years. Their starwars game was also garbo too which I am also glad I skipped. Playing black myth Wukong and its awesome.

The term expert is getting closer and closer to "influencer" status... meaningless. If they're such experts why do they consult others instead of working around/in their field of expertise? "Experts" nowadays give me the same vibe as "I can make you rich with my 100$ 5 step course" If you knew the secret to making money you wouldn't tell anyone and use it to make yourself the richest person in the world. If these people were actually experts about Japan they'd be working in Japan utilizing that "knowledge". It's a grift, plain and simple. Sad to see all these grifters invading gaming lately.

Just a small correction: People did use monetary currency in the day-to-day (at least in the cities and towns), called "Mon", mainly smaller denominations like copper/bronze coins, sometimes silver if they were more well-off. They had square holes in them for easier carrying with a string, likely borrowed from ancient Chinese currency designs which also had these holes, since it just made sense from a practical stance, for ease of carry and save on metals. Some modern Yen coins still have these holes as a remnant of that old design. If you were big merchants or nobility, you would be dealing with gold like oblong-shaped coins (Oban/Koban) like the one often featured on the lucky bekoning calico cat ornament, and other various shapes of bullions and ingots. At the same time, the bartering system was also present, so for peasants like farmers who likely wouldn't have a whole lot of money, if any, they primarily traded with commodities like rice, lumber, catches of fish...etc, as their main forms of currency, like when paying taxes with standardized bales of rice. Because commodities were treated just as valuable as currency, they would absolutely _not_ have left it out to get ruined all year round like shown in the game; they would build storehouses for them, away from the elements. When transporting them, they'd even sometimes have guards armed with spears escorting the cargo to the tax collector against highway bandits...that's how precious it was, because it was their lifeblood of everyone like bread was to the west; from the lowest of peasant to the highest of ruling class. Meanwhile, Ubisoft treats it as if it were regular hay, fodder for animals.
@BoundingIntoComics

My understanding is that Japan had a robust barter economy because rice and other grains were incredibly valuable given the relatively low amount of workable land Japan had. Rice wound up having a more stable price than the semi-precious metals used to make coins.
@Terralventhe
5 күн бұрын
@@XCodes Yeah. Coinage was generally used for any purchase that couldn't be handled via immediate and clear trade, or small transactions that couldn't be measured in sacks of rice. Basically if you were going to hire someone on long-term, and they were living in the same region or territory, and you had your own excess or surplus of commodities, you would trade in those. However, if the person you were dealing with was something like a travelling merchant, or a mercenary sort, then coinage was easier for them to carry and use for their own means.

At that time, rice was treated like a currency, and a rice market price was established as a futures contract. Let me fix Ubisoft's Yasuke's story with one paragraph just to prove a point: Yasuke is a nomadic Mentor for the Assassin's, he doesn't have a home bureau but knowledge from a number bureaus around Northern Africa and the Mediterranean. He was staying in Mozambique learning from the missionaries and learned of a trading expedition to Japan, who was under a turbulent Templar rule. After joining the expedition he agreed to stay in Japan to learn more about the situation and help the people where he could and that's when he's introduced to Nobunaga. He agrees to work with Nobunaga and help people around Japan during his journeys he finds Naoe a woman disguised as a man hiding from those who destroyed her lands. He trains her as an Assassin and learns a lot about Japanese culture from her. Outside of Nobunaga's lands he wear full Assassin robes with a mask that distorts his voice slightly.

This makes more sense than what we have officially. If Yasuke was a Mentor and a Support Character for Naoe as well as Nobunaga's Advisor in international matters (due to his experience about the outside world politics and economics)/ Field Commander for his armies (due to his tactical prowess given by decades of studying the art of battle in multiple regions)/ Close Friend, that would explain so much of how he's like this. He would not be a Samurai per se, but he would have trained Nobunaga's Samurai, making them some of the most Elite units in all Japan. In fact, if he was still alive when Nobunaga would be assassinated, he could have changed the course of Japanese History by saving Nobunaga (Specially if that happened with his life being given up as a cost) which would make the most sense in a overall aspect (respecting most of history until that point but naturally creating a what if many wanted to question for so long (What if Nobunaga survived?))

no one would care if Yasuke was in the game as an NPC. In fact, people would probably be excited. He could be a cool Da Vinci support role. Like, after the death of his master he's to be deported back to Africa, but he teams up with the Assassins to get revenge/fulfil his last act of honour so he can call himself 'samurai in spirit' before he's forced to leave.

They have always been since the late 2010s and nothing has really happened at all. Since many of these practices are in the legal loopholes in the Trade Laws in Western Countries for so long and we barely starting to realize the implications (when the "infection" is too severe to contained efectively unless MAJOR reforms are done (something that is not really happening right since Politics are too extremely bipolar to such degree that nothing really gets done or take too long to be done)). Specially in the US since the goverment of the time lifted many of the regulations (that would have kept many of these people (Shareholders and Executives) in check back) in the 90s, thinking "they would self regulate". That only worked back then because of how limited the gaming medium (and many other industries by the way) was back then (Internet was very limited (both in accesibility and capacity), Hardware was limited (that software had to be developed with basis of those limitations and you only had one chance to win or bust)). things that don't exist today. Tech advanced so quickly and exponentially in just a little more than a decade, that it has completely out-paced the very few regulations and laws that remained in place and politicians are too slow to adapt to changes (mainly because of how old so many of them are. In fact many who pushed against Loot Boxes at the beggining were basically from the youngest generation of senators and representatives (which are very few and far in between because there's not that many that course official political or lawmaking carreers today) who were more aware of the implications due to being more comtemporary along with this evolution unlike the majority which came from the 80s at latest)

Did you guys remember this quote when booting a game " this game is fictional and not represent actual person and any same name are just coincidence" you can find it in many old games and the reason is to make people understand its just a game and have no mean to represent real life and just purely fiction. But in Ubisoft problem is they call it " historical accurate " but not make it in accurate manner and even the culture dosn't match and to add things up they bullshitting about that history like they all know more than the actual people who already live their life in that culture . Why called it historical accurate if its not even close to that? What make it worse is ubisoft claim they are right and any japanese people who deny their claim are wrong......REALLY?? THEN WHY DON'T CALL IT LIKE OTHER GAME "PURELY FICTIONAL" come on now if you want to make historical accurate, wether you dont like that history don't make shit up and stick to the truth history. Gimme a break, why every game in this year always think giving romance is a good features?? Not every game need that romance feature and assassin creed is one of that game who don't need that feature. It's clear people nowadays can't get a boyfriend or girlfriend right mate😂😂😂

Hey, love your vids. Some info for you: Oda Nobunaga was 16th century. By that time there WERE Buddhist temples in Japan because it was introduced in around 12th century. Also, Chinese characters (kanji) being used is also not wrong since they are not only used in modern Japanese today, but Chinese was actually the language of the court up until the Heian period (also 12th century). While a Japanese script, the hiragana and katakana were introduced since then, it didn't completely erase everything in the "Chinese" scripts (in connotation, because Japan shut itself off from the world after the fall of the Tang dynasty in the 8th century and their "Chinese" started to change so much, that it communication in it with China later became impossible). Also, while Japan isolated itself, there was no real trade with any outside countries. Hence the forced opening of the ports and Japan via the kurogane (the Black Ships) under US officer Matthew Perry in 1853. Japanese hadn't seen any "whites nor blacks" for a loooong time. Chinese architecture was imported during the Tang dynasty period as well. In fact, because of the long isolation of Japan, many of the old buildings in Japan are more authentic Chinese-style than you can find in China because of the culture revolution (many were burned) but also because the architecture style in China, same as the language, evolved throughout the centuries. So especially the old city of Kyoto, before it was burned), had the same building style and system (the way the city was arranged) as Tang China, which were mostly lost to time in China already. Errr, in short: If one wanted to study old Tang China architecture, you would do well to also travel to Japan and check out the left over buildings. The 2 ways Japanese present themselves are "hon-ne", the real self, and "omote", the surface self. I'd have to play the game to see what would be all wrong, but honestly, I think the major issue is really picking Yasuke as main character and also depicting him in a strange power fantasy that basically alienated all Japanese, because of its crudeness. As much as everyone would probably love the narrative, I really REALLY doubt it's the level of offensiveness of the woke adaption of Cleopatra.

It's doublethink at Ubisoft. Always doublethink. “To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself -- that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.” "Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. The Party intellectual knows in which direction his memories must be altered; he therefore knows that he is playing tricks with reality; but by the exercise of doublethink he also satisfies himself that reality is not violated. The process has to be conscious, or it would not be carried out with sufficient precision, but it also has to be unconscious, or it would bring with it a feeling of falsity and hence of guilt. Doublethink lies at the very heart of Ingsoc, since the essential act of the Party is to use conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty. To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies -- all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth. Ultimately it is by means of doublethink that the Party has been able -- and may, for all we know, continue to be able for thousands of years -- to arrest the course of history." “Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. ‘Reality control’, they called it: in Newspeak, ‘doublethink’.” “Oceanic society rests ultimately on the belief that Big Brother is omnipotent and that the Party is infallible. But since in reality Big Brother is not omnipotent and the party is not infallible, there is need for an unwearying, moment-to-moment flexibility in the treatment of facts. The keyword here is BLACKWHITE. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to BELIEVE that black is white, and more, to KNOW that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary.” " ....that all written records agree with the orthodoxy of the moment is merely a mechanical act. But it is also necessary to remember that events happened in the desired manner. And if it is necessary to rearrange one's memories or to tamper with written records, then it is necessary to forget that one has done so. The trick of doing this can be learned like any other mental technique. It is learned by the majority of Party members, and certainly by all who are intelligent as well as orthodox. In Oldspeak it is called, quite frankly, 'reality control'. In Newspeak it is called doublethink, though doublethink comprises much else as well." Orwell, 1984
