@@StressmanFIN There have been a few attempts over the years to market a round counter. Radetec have made several versions for pistols, none of which have ever become very popular. They introduced a pistol version in 2012 for the Beretta 92FS and generic 1911s which is still available and costs 200$/140$ respectively. Additionally they released the Smart Slide in 2019 which was a 999$ glock slide replacement that was a limited release. The Smart Slide is the closest to the Aliens version for pistols. Check out the Cobalt Kinetics Round Counter for AR15s, that was the most recent attempt (2017) and most similar to the Aliens version. It looks great but never went to market - I believe Cobalt Kinetics had financial difficulties as they mostly sold very expensive gamer AR15s which never got very popular. Additionally, the LMT piston AR15 rifles sold to Estonia have a different version which sits in the grip and counts the total number of rounds fired for maintenance purposes. The US military has also long wanted a round counter, but less for in-combat use and more for maintenance. The main issue is that the most definitive system would likely require each individual magazine to have some form of electronics to track the follower position - many of the prototype round counting systems we've seen sense vibrations to tell if a shot is fired, but this assumes every magazine was loaded to capacity and ignores the round in the chamber. As a result, many people are reluctant to add electronics to magazines which are meant to be expendable and mass produced.

2:45 The reason that the slide didn't lock open is that there is no magazine in the gun. When the player reloads the gun he does not take the magazine out, rather he just puts a magazine in. And when you fire a handgun with no magazine, there is nothing for the slide release to catch on. That is why the slide didn't lock.

To be honest, at that point I hadn't caught on to the fact that you can have the mag out - obviously that's a pretty rare feature in video games! But yes, if there' no mag, it won't lock open.
@aussierule
3 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanferguson1211 You can take the mag out, unload each round, and load a mixture of "bullet salad" if you wanted to assuming they are all the same caliber. You can also carry around magazines or top load the gun one bullet at a time, an example being the Remington 700 bolt action rifle. You hold your reload key and scroll the mousewheel over the method of reloading you want to do. Also, the ammo for the civilian semi automatic AK chambered in .366 will fit in a universal 7.62x39 magazine meant for the semi or select fire 7.62 AK's, so you can have some pretty embarrassing moments if you accidentally bring a magazine from your stash that looks like all the others but just has the wrong ammo in it, effectively disabling your rifle. You can eject rounds at will with a keybind in the case of say, reloading to a magazine with better penetration ammo to get that old round out of there and chamber that fresh pen round. Or just for fun if you want. Your firearm can also malfunction if it's not maintained and in bad shape causing you to have to clear jams frequently. And this is just a fraction of all the cool unrestricted gameplay features. Last thing I wanna touch on in case anyone else is intrigued by how awesome this game is. You can wear body armor, helmets, and chestrigs. Your ammo HAS to be either in your vest or if the mag is small enough in your pockets (pistol). You can bring in as many loaded magazines as you want but you can only access as many as you put in your vest which for most people is typically 3 mags plus 1 in the gun. On top of this you can bring loose ammo and top up your mags. This becomes a big factor in gameplay usually leading to a lull in prolonged firefights where players retreat, top up mags, and bandage/medkit/splint etc. if they need it. Gunfights either last a little while or you're dead instantly. There's some in between but not much. Your body armor can be anywhere from class 1-6 with each tier becoming harder to penetrate requiring higher quality rounds and harder to acquire the really high end stuff. You need to know the capabilities of your ammo moreso than the specific rifle or pistol you decided to use. There are 135 unique types of ammo in Tarkov strictly for player firearms, (yes ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE TYPES OF AMMO!!) 3 mounted weapons and an FN40GL Mk2 grenade launcher. The desirable ammo traits are usually enough penetration to get through class 4 and 5 armor and enough flesh damage to be able to take them down with 2 vs 3 shots to the chest. The traits are as follows: Penetration Power - A number used to determine bullet's penetration chances, and damage inflicted on armor when it fails to penetrate. Damage Value - The number of Hit Points subtracted from Target's Total HP Pool when a bullet manages to penetrate through Armor. Armor Damage Ratio (%) - Percentage of Bullet's Damage that is done to Armor when it fails to penetrate. Projectile Speed - Bullet's initial velocity in meters per second (this speed lowers over distance because of air friction, gravity, humidity, and some other factors that are reflected in the game). Fragmentation Chance - A likelihood of a bullet splitting/splintering after entering Target's body. Bullets that have Fragmented after impact deal high bonus Damage to Targets. Ricochet Chance - Rather self-explanatory. Chance of bullet bouncing off a surface when it is shot at an angle. And that's only going over ammo and armor. There's so much more it's insane. FLIR, NVG's, Faceshields that stop smaller rounds, actual mil dots and realism in the scopes whom Eotech, Walther, Leupold just to name a few, have partnered up with. There are a lot of manufacturers that are partnered and represented in the game including Lonestar Armory from my state of Texas with their TX-15 carbine being featured! Semi auto only, civilian specs just like in real life. Great game to anyone interested.

2:53 Jonathan, maybe someone has answered your question already, but I'm pretty sure that the slide didn't lock back because there was no magazine inserted in the pistol. There was a round in the chamber which the player fired, and the pistol fully cycled, but the lack of a magazine prevented the slide from locking back. This is because the last-round hold open feature is typically engaged by the magazine follower pushing up on the inside of the slide release lever. It's actually a really cool feature that I haven't seen in any other game. In fact, I think Tarkov even has animations for the player manually inserting a cartridge into the chamber when they don't have any magazines, which your average player will never even see.

In the beginning when he says the “slide didn’t lock open”. That’s not due to last round in the magazine. It’s a failure to fire / feed. The game has jamming and failure to fire mechanics based on durability and maintenance / cleaning of the firearms. Ie The gun jammed. Happens sometimes.

@finnclausen2354

The pistol that shoots ones and does doesn't shoot the second time, it can be several things. 1. Not holding the weapon correctly, the wrist is weak not locked. 2. The ammo could be in a bad condition and simply doesn't work, it may be a hang fire which is dangerous 3. It could be the firing pin which doesn't hit the primer deep enough. 4. The slide can be out battery, not locked in the firing position.
@QueerArmorer

EDIT: AH - you already addressed this in other comments. Good to see. Not sure if someone else has already commented, but the reason it doesn't lock open is probably the same reason it doesn't just go bang again - there's no magazine. In a Glock design the magazine's follower pushes up the slide release to catch the slide. No magazine, no locking back on empty.

To answer your question about the pistol slide not locking open, I believe it was simply a misfire due to bad ammo. There is a very small chance that a round will chamber but not go off. This is especially common on cheaper ammo

For the pistol slide not locking back, my guess is that there was no mag in the gun, which is something that can easily happen in Tarkov. You load rounds in the mag by removing it from the gun and drag-drop the cartridges on it. In the menu, the only way to add a round in the chamber to get a "+1 round" is by drag-drop rounds on the gun. Forget to put the magazine back into the gun and this exact situation happens.
