What a relief! I thought I was the only one that ran a round through the splitter sideways. When you pull the trigger on the 48C splitter there is virtually no stopping it. The best lesson learned here is that cutting firewood with a processor is not as simple as it sounds. With all of the different shapes, sizes, knots, and occasional branch still attached, logs have a mind of their own. My favorite log to run is tree length, 12-16" diameter. Very good video explaining the things that can go wrong and what you all have to watch out for when operating a processor. 👍👍

We just finished it last night and have not had a chance to put it to the test yet. We only ran logs through it while we were mocking it up, that's how we discovered that we needed a deflector in front of the eject door. Need to get it painted, Jeremy is sending some down. The reason the cutter wings are set back, is the overall cutting force needed is less. If all the cutters were flush, it would take significantly more force to push the round through the wedge. This is especially true for 8 way and larger wedges. I think when the new Eastonmade 40C comes out, I would contact Andrew and see if you could trade it out for your 22MB, The size of the logs you typically buy would be more suitable for a smaller processor.

Alarm phone rang he jumped in the engine and he rode over the grill that he put infront of the engine. Fire Engine had a Mack Attack. Engine 1, Grill 0. No grilling here. The chef spent 40 years in the military. He is grilled out.

Wood yard machinery is a paradox, That's for sure. The great news is that this machine will crank out a cord of splits per hour. Which is awesome. A true sight to behold. There is a definite time ,place and application for this MB.

Hehe. A tired pussy cat. All the hard work watching the processor. I wonder if the wedge had teeth on it like the clamp, smaller teeth, not that aggressive, would that help keep the wood in place ? Your ideas on upgrades are good ideas. I think the horizontal parts of the wedge are set back some to make it easier to split the wood. Not taking all the pressure at once. Kinda like staging it. I’ve finished cutting two cords, I’m guessing, for my sister in law, her stove is small so all cuts where 11” to 13 “. Still have to split it yet. But now onto the cutting 16” to 18”. Have a great day.

@jeanvaljohn3921
Жыл бұрын
They would have to make seven different wedges for seven sizes of wood. Because loga are not uniform. To minimize shards and debris a single wedge is used and yes it takes longer. But you raise a good question. A processor with seven wedges on a bar. An electronic eye measures the cut round, Sends the measurements to the computer and the computer tells the bar full of wedges wich wedge is required and locates the appropriate wedge for optimal splitting with minimal debris and shredding. I think the have computer controlled milling saws. So it would be doable. Heck, Easton probably has something in the works as we speak

Lots of cleanup tasks with the processor. You are very fortunate to have a concrete pad for the processor to sit on. Makes cleanup a snap. And cutting the IBC totes with a chainsaw!! Why didn't I think of that!? That's great that your clamp gives you a 16" mark. Perfect! On my Cord King, the bar speed depends on how hard you pull the lever. And it can be adjusted. Good design. On mine, the wedge wings are set back about 2". When I split big knotty pieces it hits the vertical wedge first, starting the split. The rest splits easier that way. I'm sure there's another reason as well. Thanks for another great video Chris!
