As a three year owner/operator of a 7200MP model, I offer one other piece of advice/warning; NEVER NEVER open the door without making sure you are standing off to the right side, and back away at arms length when the stove is burning. Especially when it has been idling (fan not blowing) for a while. Mine, on occasion will back draft, and belch a ball of fire out the front that would roast you if you were standing in front of the open door. If you don't know what a back draft is, watch any of several youtubes on back drafts. Firemen learn about them on their first day in fire school.

I always check the water temp make sure I hook the u-bolt with the latch any time I open it. I'm a career fire fighter and understand fire behavior and backdrafts, but I appreciate the advice and tips. Thank you.

@@Spudd74 Come to find out, either the newer models or the older models ( I don't know which my model is) had a damper rod on the front that you opened before you opened the door to eliminate that potential. Mine has no such thing and I've had it belch out a fireball several times.

Awesome. You’re gonna love it. It’s a little frustrating until you get a good coal bed. Also I learned to keep the blower turned way down and than I didn’t have any problems with it going out, even on the warm days.

How often do you load? What area are you in? 10 facecords or 10 cords did ya burn?
@Spudd74

I load it twice a day. When I do load it’s never full. I just throw 5-6 chunks in. I’m in northwest Pennsylvania. Up by Lake Erie. I burned 10 full cords. I’m still burning it to heat my pool and domestic hot water. Heating oil is too expensive right now. Lol

How many cords did you burn and what size s/f you heading? Thanks for sharing

From October until late April early May I’d say around 10 full cords. That’s heating around 2000 sq/ft and our domestic hot water. Keeping the house around 72*. The only time I run the heater in the barn is if I’m out there working. I probably burned a couple more cords over the summer heating the pool and still doing the domestic hot water.

How much did it cost?
@Spudd74

All in around 12k. That's the boiler, 2 pumps, 150' of pipe, plate exchanger, heater in the barn, and misc. fittings, wire, and thermostat for the barn.

Do you feel now that your have ran this an entire season that it is better then just a wood stove in the house? How much smoke are you getting each time you load it. I hate breathing and smelling smoke. Im at the point now where i have to decide for this boiler or soap stone wood stove.

Yes, I do like it a lot better than a wood stove inside. The mess it outside. No worries of my house catching on fire from that random hot ash or from the stove burning too hot. I don't have to split my wood as small and with my stove I can burn pine and other soft woods if I get into a pinch it doesn't have to be seasoned. I do burn more wood with the boiler than I did with a wood stove, but I don't mind, I enjoy cutting firewood. As far as how much I get when I load it. You do get some smoke coming out, but it all depends on if you give it a minute when open the the dampener and crack the door. Also depends on where you are in the burn cycle, if it just reached temperature or if the blowers are getting ready to kick back on. The type of wood and how seasoned it is will affect the smoke. So yes smoke can come out but its outside so its not smoking up your house.
