Hey! Your daughters hair is gorgeous. However I would highly recommend you to not leave conditioner on your baby’s hair for a week or even overnight. Please follow the directions on the bottle. Scientifically, conditioner will not add any extra benefits to your hair if you leave it in for long periods, instead, it could leave to hair weathering and moisture overload. Coming from a place of love. I want your baby’s hair to continue to thrive ❤️. Also, detangling her hair dry with a lightweight oil prior to shampooing will significantly reduce tangles post shampoo.

Girl, I did the same with my daughter. Things are so much better now. She did say she didn’t want a relaxer, that she loves her natural hair, but like your daughter, she’s super tender headed, so she changed her mind. She misses her natural hair, but is happy that hair days are so much easier now for her. Baby girl’s hair is so pretty and healthy. I’m glad I found your channel so that I had someone who was going through the same as me. ❤

Beautiful hair! Coming from a tender headed 4c perspective, I always felt like people were angry because they had to do my thick coarse hair. They would yank my head around and over process my hair and it always burned my scalp but still never get straight enough to their satisfaction. Damaged at that! I shaved my head for a while but learned how to deal with my hair myself. I learned how to not hurt myself obviously but there are times when my scalp is sore from detangling. All this straightening isn't for me. It really is torture and other people can't feel your pain

Funny how much your relationship with her reminds me of my mom and I growing up. I was so tender headed and hated touching my hair. I would have my curls in a bun for weeks just to avoid styling. My mom always wanted to have hair days together and wanted to style my hair. Relaxing it was the best compromise for us too! That was the only way I could handle brushing it and taking care of my hair. Although now I embrace my natural curls and only straighten my hair once a year. Bless my momma, you and any other guardians for caring and doing what is needed ❤️

To this day I won’t allow anyone to touch my head. I do understand completely her struggle and pain. You’ve done a outstanding job with the upkeep and health of her hair. WOW beautiful hair. Man I remember those days ugh 😂. I had thickkkk hair down my butt and nobody but my mother could comb my hair. I screamed and cried. I feel for her I know that pain. Im grown and still very tender headed. My daughter laughs at me all the time. So i learned from everyone on how to do my own hair. My daughter the same when she was little cried getting her hair done. Your AWESOME taking good care of her hair. My child is grown and i do her hair for her. Its very thick and long. I keep it clipped and braid up. Its hard to trust people because they will cut to much or braid to tight and take your edges. So Im greatful for you guys who show how to do all these amazing styles. I learned from the best and didn't go to school for this. I love keeping my childs hair looking healthy and beautiful. I been lazy with mine but i do the twist style in my hair. I sweat so all that flat Iron doesn't last to long plus it takes me so long ugh. You should try that blow dryer brush on her hair. OMG its amazing. My daughter brought one for me and its less painful and cuts the time diwn for me like 3 to 4 hours. Good luck and keep taking such good care of her she will thank you when she gets older. Stay safe and blessed🙏😇😘💞

I went to a professional at least 2x a month who kept up with my treatments and made sure it stayed healthy. That's what I think is the trick with relaxed hair. Going to a professional often and keeping it healthy is a must.

Try a blow dry brush! (NOT the round brush one.) Sometimes a reg blow dryer and brush can be harsh and painful and tangle and snag the hair easily. With a blow dry brush it’s just a brush that blows air. Start at the ends and go towards the root. Very easy and painless if you detangle before hand like you did in this video. Her hair is always beautiful in every stage! Also I don’t understand the need for hot combs honestly. They are just extra damage for no reason LOL. Especially if you sweat in your scalp anyway. Just a regular flat iron does just fine and gets at the roots just fine lol. You just have to do small enough parts. I am a new flatiron natural and have VERY kinky pattern in the back of my head.

Hello, then you very much for your video. My daughter had the same style hair & is very very very tender headed! I can't even use the blow dryer without her crying! She likes to wear her hair straight but I don't want to put chemicals in her hair. When she was 5, i went to a beauty supply store and asked them for a non chemical keratin treatment. I puchased the product only to find that it had lye or something that burned her scalp and just ruined her natural curls! 😒 she's now 13 and we've managed to get her curls back, but her hair has never been the same! I'm going to try the products you mentioned and follow your procedure and see how it turns out. Tell your daughter she's beautiful & thank you both for sharing.

After seeing your last video (popped up in my feed) I decided to do the same for my 11y/o daughter. I explained to her what it was and what to expect and the possible outcomes later on down the road. She agreed to give it a go so the next day we took the leap. I was very nervous about over processing her hair and added a couple of tablespoons of grapeseed oil (eyeballed it 😬) to the relaxer. I can't tell you how pleased we both are with the end result. She is so happy to be able to style her own hair she asked why did we wait so long to do this. The best part is that it is still curly and can be worn in all of the "natural" styles we are used to but achieved in a much less painful and faster way. So far she's worn it in two strand twists with space buns and braids she did herself. She loves her hair like she never has before; this was definitely a winning move for us. Btw, I also left the hair mayonnaise in because I immediately did the two strand twists while it was wet. Thank you for the inspiration.

Ohhhhh I'm so happy to hear this. As I said before. I will never force a relaxer on anyone. But, it can be life changing for ppl in our situations. I'm so glad you took the leap as well. I love that she's able to wear natural styles and keep looser curls! Great job Mom! ❤️❤️

The only problem with leaving texture in the hair (which I completely agree with) is that its hard to get a consistant level of relaxation. Its going to be difficult to manage with the mix of textures. I would suggest on her next touch up to run the relxer through the entire hair shaft after youve done the roots. Just to smooth it out a little bit more and that will help with managability and it will not compromise the integrity of her hair. I've done this with my sister and her hair density remained in tact while allowing for better managability. Overall its all about making wash day a better day for both of you.💜

Hey, I know people swear by flat irons, but I find that hair straightens just as well with just a large curling iron, especially if you plan to curl the hair anyway. Also, how does your daughter handle an old fashioned hooded dryer? I also have very thick hair and much prefer to roll my hair when wet and sit under the dryer for bounce, shine and overall health without so much manipulation.
@teeteechee7331

This would be my suggestion also. Rollers and hair dryer then pin curl to sleep. A roller set would give it a lot of body with less manipulation to her head.
