These two ladies are Mayte Mateos and María Mendiola from Spain. They were dancers in the Spanish TV and had they idea of forming a duo inspired in the Kessler Sisters. They had a huge success across Europe from 1977 to 1981 (the original duo) and they were the first Spanish artists to have a #1 in UK, even before Julio Iglesias. Today, when we hear this in Spain, we always take it with humour and having a lot of fun.

Baccara and Boney M. represent one specific part of disco-culture - euro disco. While the "original" disco music from US was based mostly on funk and soul, euro disco was based mostly on pop music, which was just given that 4/4 beat and typical disco music orchestration. Euro disco was meant to be tacky and superficial and easy to dance. It was not meant to be an art form, but just to get people on the floor and dance. Whatever - love it or hate, it was a part of life for a certain age group of us Europeans.

But when they sang, "No, Sir, I don't very much feel like talking, nor neither walking..." we KNEW that "boogie" meant pillow talk (hence the JAB in the dance. SO erotic in the day. There's a whole different story about it up in Scotland, as it became the national football team's unofficial song (soccer, to you in the US). I already added this comment and it seems to have been blocked, perhaps because I added a link to the BBC website with the story on how this happened in Scotland and how we are riding high at this time, as one of the first teams to qualify for Euro 2024 in Germany. Just search for 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie Scotland' here on KZitem or elsewhere and you will see what it's all about. Æx 🙏 🏴

Love this song. Puts me in such a happy mood. Was also used in a TV advert for Cadburys chocolate in the UK.

taking me back to my childhood, when we watch the adults dance and go copycat them... music brings back so many memories.🤩

A classic 70s tune. How do I request a reaction song that I guarantee you've not heard before but is so good?

We moved halfway across the World when this song was a hit, I used to sing it walking to a new school plus new life experiences kicked off with this song, among others. Good memories, I still love to hear this song, it cheers me up, and reminds me of sunshine on my shoulders. You should certainly try Donna Summer's I Feel Love, she is the Queen of Disco music, a must hear!
