🤔…..GREAT reaction! He died absolutely unnecessarily - he had a slight infection and a cold, and the doctor prescribed him an antibiotic. That antibiotic crippled him to the point where he could no longer perform - after six years of suffering he finally died at the age of 71. There are a few KZitems about his career and tragic death worth watching.

😂 Miss. K Shavon, you crack me up, girl! I live very close to Bobby. He was a very nice human being as well as a musically gifted and talented man. Soul is universal. I love it when younger Black people find out Bobby is White. Wait until you get to The Average White Band. All this music was accepted & loved by people of all races back in the day.
@pauld7615

That’s because there was little racial division then. When I was a kid, we didn’t see each other in terms of color. My mom and dad socialized with everyone. I had black aunts and uncles and we called them that because we considered them family. And, by the way, I’m from southeast Alabama. I’m so sick of the stereotypes that all white people from the Deep South are white sheet wearing, cross burning, morons.

I heard this song when I was in Japan. I was learning English back then and I had to do some research then so that I could sing along. As fate would have it, there was a karaoke version on laser disc. And there was bobby caldwell gracing the video in the karaoke video. At the time, I was ignorant about the whole race thing but I did have a weird thought that the voice didn't match his look.

Tupac Shakur sampled this song in a single released posthumously. It was originally called ‘Sucka 4 Luv’. It was changed to “Do for Love”! Amazing to know that four additional Hip Hop artists sampler Bobby Caldwell. At the time both white folks and black folks were shocked to find out the song was performed by a white man.

He lived in Miami and his mom used to bring him to Bob Marley’s house. He loved soul and jazz music, and was influenced by thise genres. He wrote songs for Natalie Cole, Al Jarreau, Bob scaggs, Niel Diamond. The record label was in Hialeah, and also produced KC and the sunshine band. Bobby Caldwell gave us some great music.
