Great reaction! Home Free is a country acapella group, but they do so much more. R&B, pop, rock, country they are versatile. The members are: First guy who sang is their tenor Austin Brown, who is classically trained. Second guy with beard and glasses is also a soulful voiced tenor to hear him in lead check out 'End of the Road' . The deep bass is Tim Foust, who has a 5 octave singing voice. He can go low and high. Check out him sharing lead in ' In the Blood'. The guy standing in back with beatboxer with dark hair and beard mak7ng jaw harp sound us the group's baritone/ bass( he does bass when Tim is singing lead) Adam Chance aka Chance. To hear him sing lead check out their cover of ' Cover me up'. And last but not least the beatboxer/ vocal percussionist Adam Rupp aka the freak of nature. He has won competitions. He can also sing but doesnt do it often. Instead his vocal percussion is the backbone of Home Free. He has a drum solo video out on youtube if you wanna check him out! Altogerher they are amazingly talented! Welcome to your Homefree journey. Thanks for taking us Home Fries ( Home Free fans) along!! Thanks for your reaction!

The only version I've heard is on the soundtrack of the Movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou', with George Clooney and John Goodman. These guys did a fantastic job!! Bob Dylan also did a cover of this. The original was written and performed by Richard Burnett in 1913 in Kentucky. He had six years prior to publishing the song he had been blinded in a robbers turned shooting, hence the lyrics.

It’s always fun to see someone discover Home Free. Glad you liked them and I look forward to seeing you explore more. A breakdown for you: Home Free was started in 2000 by two brothers - Chris and Adam Rupp. Adam is the beatboxer in the group (sings occasionally, is a tenor), Chris sang baritone and left the group in 2016, but you will see him in older videos (usually wears a cowboy hat). The uncle of one of the other group members loaned them the money to get started and to show their gratitude they named the group after a houseboat he had - Home Free. There have been a number of members over the years but this video shows their current line up: Beatboxer - Adam Rupp from Minnesota. In the back in the vest is Adam Chance who sings baritone although he sang bass in his previous group. He replaced Chris and to avoid confusion with Adam the beatboxer, Adam Chance is referred to as simply Chance. He is from Alabama and has a 4 octave vocal range. In the front row, the guy in the overalls with the beard and glasses was Rob Lundquist who is from Minnesota and sings tenor. In the middle singing the lead in this song was Austin Brown, high tenor. Austin is from Georgia. The bass singer is Tim Foust. Tim is from Texas and has an incredible 5 octave vocal range. So he can sing very, very low (he’s been known to blow out speakers) and he can sing very high. Keep watching and you will hear both ends of his range. They are the only known country a cappella group in the world. They can make you laugh in one song, feel happy in another, make you cry or make you think. They sing a lot of country but also do all forms of music. You will not regret looking further into them.

Awesome run down. As an update (or addendum) the band members currently live in Nashville, Minneapolis, and LA. Adam and Rob are in Minneapolis. Tim and Austin are in Nashville. Chance is in LA. They started in Mankato Minnesota where the Rupps grew up. The headquartered out of Minneapolis for a bit but, I believe, they are headquartered out of Nashville now. They tour extensively (they toured the UK before the pandemic) and are true showmen so it's an awesome show. They release around two to four new videos a month with some being music videos and some being either behind the scenes or snippets of their lives/histories. Enjoy! and thanks rebelpearl for the great write up.

They do a lot of light hearted vids as well. They have over 150 vids on YT & that also includes their individual vids too sans the band. If you want an intense vid, Peter Hollens ft Tim Foust doing Misty Mountains. One that shows their perfection of harmony is Helplessly Hoping (which I think is WAY too short. It makes you want more)! Another good country one is Ring of Fire. I recommend reacting to the Sing Off one AND the one they do ft Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix in a "double reaction" so you can do a legit comparison. Definitely do NOT do the Mayday cover until about 7-8 vids in & you've learned each member's vocals. Mayday will blow your mind.

TIM FAUST CAN GO EVEN DEEPER! YOU SHOULD HEAR "MISTY MOUNTAINS" WITH PETER HOLLENS. EACH ONE CAN SING, AND SING WELL! TRY "HOW GREAT THOU ART". AND IF YOU WANT A GOOD LAUGH, TRY "THE BUTTS REMIX". IT IS SO FUNNY! THEY ARE THE REAL, WHOLE PACKAGE,!!! ALSO, TIM IS FROM SOUTHEAST TEXAS, AUSTIN IS FROM GEORGIA, CHANCE IS FROM ALABAMA, AND ROBB AND ADAM ARE FROM MINNESOTA!!!

They do not just do country. They can do anything, even gospel. This sing is from the movie "Brother Where Art Thou". I never saw it but it is about prisoners escaping through the swamp. That's why they depict the swamp and swamp sounds.

CHECK OUT ALL OF THEIR VIDS. THERE ARE VIDS OF CONCERTS WHERE THEY ADD MORE CONTENT TO THE SONGS. THEY LIKE TO BANTER WITH THE AUDIENCE. YOU THINK THAT WAS LOW? HE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BLOW SUBWOOFERS AND VIBRATE VIDS TAKEN BY AUDIENCES { SECOND TIME WATCHING }

Come on down the "rabbit hole" with us. These guys are each so very talented -- when they choose a song to record they each sing the lead and then the group determines who sounds best. No prima donnas, just great entertainment and; they will poke fun at themselves and do some funny songs as well. They are simply the best!

Home Free did a live version of Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash cover) during season 4 of a competition contest called "Sing Off" season 4. They have a studio version, but I believe the live performance is better. I really enjoyed how surprised you were and I look forward to more Home Free reactions. New sub.

Love your reactions, it reminds me of my first time hearing Home Free. A couple that will keep you wanting more are How great thou art, Blue ain’t your color, Helplessly Hoping. Bass is Tim Foust, Beatboxer is Adam Rupp, Baritone at the left in the back is Chance, Lead Tenor front left is Rob Lundquist and the high tenor in the middle is Austin Brown. They are all amazing at what they do and blend great together, but you already figured that out. They don’t take themselves too seriously so their funny side you can find in All about that bass (incl. Gag reel) Kentucky fried pop medley and guilty pleasures derailed. Even though they have fun with those songs the singing is still amazing. I know I rapidly became a Home Fry once I found them.

If you do Guilty Pleasures Derailed, just sit back and enjoy the ride, don't bother critiquing. It's called Derailed for a reason, lol (as one reactor put it, they 'Broje' him ... ROFLOL)
