You guys have NO idea how happy I am that you're doing this song!! I haven't watched yet but... so many other reactor's have misunderstood this song SOOOO here goes.... Jennifer Nettles (lead singer) wrote this song from the "other woman's" perspective. Her husband in real life had been cheating on her and she wrote this show how his actions had an impact on more than just her.... The tears in this video are 100% real and Christian (guitarist and the other half of Sugarland) told the director to keep filming when he suggested they stop filming to let her get herself together. he said this was real and raw and was important for people to see the real emotion and pain to get the message across.... LOVE Sugarland and this song! Kudos and thanks for this one guys!!

@dess8287

*Jennifer Nettles* has a voice that's so captivating. The song is about a woman being promised a great life after the man tells her that he'll be leaving his wife for her soon. As the song unfolds she begins to realize it's all a lie and if he really wanted to be with he would have been true to his, she also thinks about if he's slippin' out on his marriage, he'll do the same thing to her. So to end she tells him to stay with his wife that he wasn't planning on leaving. And even though it she knows it be wrong to break up a marriage with a man that's confused and trying to see if he should stay or go. A sad story of someone being put in a position that they never wanted to be in the first place. And Kristen (He's the Duo part of Sugarland) was getting little upset, because he thinks of Jennifer as a sister and they were making cry on set ( so it was like nobody messes with my little sister like that), but video wise it all worked out. Well with that being said on to some other great tunes by *Sugarland : Stuck Like Glue, Settlin', Something More, Baby Girl, Everyday America, Tonight and Joey.* The subject isn't so risque as *Stay* but just as good. Love Peace and Happiness Y'all !!

Wikipedia:According to Nettles, "Stay" was inspired by Reba McEntire's 1986 single "Whoever's in New England", a ballad in which a wife addresses her unfaithful husband.[1] After hearing the song, Nettles thought that it would be an original approach to take the perspective of the "other woman" (i.e., the mistress), as very few country songs had ever done so.[1][3] Once she decided to take that perspective, the song "practically wrote itself".[1] The melody is similar to the Lonestar song "I'm Already There."

More for female Friday. Want a banger? Try Melissa Etheridge "Bring Me Some Water" or "I'm the Only One". Want something a little more funky try Rickie Lee Jones "Youngblood"

Even after all these years I still deeply feel this song. Maybe it's because I know how she feels being cheated on, maybe it's because of her amazing voice either way is a master piece

This song was between her and Bon Jovi back in the day they had a thing which she was being strung along by Bon Jovi and that emotion she’s putting into this song “is real pain”!!! She like to of never got through it without breaking down several times!!! Now my opinion: when a man is on the road with another group aka (sugarland) things can become lonely plus if he’s telling how his home life is not great??? Things can happen Only thing good that came from it was one hell of a song!!!

Stuck Like Glue is a fun song by Sugarland that is less intense, but fun. Another fun song that I think you'd enjoy the video for is Baby Likes to Rock It by the Tractors. kzitem.info/news/bejne/ymaDmYCJcqBogag Both of these are fun songs that were country hits.

The song was not written about her or her own life experience. My understand of the situation is that they were singing the song over and over, just her and the guitar and they had done a lot of takes and it was getting late and just singing the song was taking an emotional toll on her. They decided to do one more take and she finally broke down and that is what you see in the video. She does have an amazingly strong voice. Yes, in the song, she would be the "other" woman, and the male in the song is apparently stringing her along, telling her that someday he will leave (assuming) his wife and be with her full time, but she is now realizing that he is just lying to her and just using her as his permanent side chick. So in the last verse she finally realizes the nature of this toxic relationship and tells him to just stay with his wife because she is moving on to find someone she doesn't need to share.

I just now stumbled onto this which is a little late. That said, it is all about her eyes! Her eyes sell the song here! Beautiful!

Sugarland is Jennifer Nettles (singer) and Kristian Bush (guitarist). This was recorded while she was going through a divorce resulting from her husband cheating. Yet she sang it so well from the other woman’s perspective. SO much talent. You should watch their video for the song “Unlove You”. Side note, Kristian was once the guitarist for Annie Lennox, definitely NOT country. There were originally 3 members to Sugarland on their first album.
