I have to imagine that Ren has a high IQ. His use of language is so masterful it's ridiculous. A true wordsmith. In celtic cultures there is the concept of the warrior poet. I think Ren has fought more wars with himself than we can imagine and he is maybe the best poet alive.

For REN, this was truly his reality. Misdiagnosed with Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic. Second is dealing with the symptoms of Lyme neuroborreliosis, these neurological symptoms often leave patients feeling drained and debilitated as they begin losing their quality of life. Over time, patients find themselves unable to do the things they love as they struggle to get ahead of their progressing symptoms.

Yeah, you "get" Ren. He's one of my favorite artists right now. Soooo many layers! Each of his songs gives you an idea of a particle floating in his head that he solidified and shared with us. I think he's brilliant. Your tender heart will understand, "Crutch," with Bebe. I believe it was written before he was diagnosed with Lyme disease and the he just thought he was going insane. He didn't want to lose the one person who stayed with him. It's the most exquisite song, emotionally raw and like a thousand daggers in your heart, but devastatingly beautiful. Please do the video - do it with no filters - Ren will release it if there is a copyright claim. Go watch his interview with Justin Hawkins to understand this extraordinary young man a bit more. He did one with Knox Hill, too, that I haven't seen yet. (I've been saving it for surgery recuperation this week. Something to look forward to!)

A question, have you had a tick bite leading to targeted blood tests and a course of antibiotic tablets would have sorted the problem out reasonably quickly. If they had actually caught his Lyme disease in the first three weeks, a 2 week course of antibiotics would have stopped the next almost 15 years of physical and mental trauma. Actual medicine would have helped him…but Lyme diagnoses still remain elusive because the symptoms present as a million other illnesses.

I think there is an anger in this song. Not just on the face of the lyrics. I think it goes deeper. Like he has these physical as well as mental problems and all he is given is pills for depression and speaking therapy to help him deal with all the ineffective crap the medics put him through. Then it goes deep into society’s ills
the Pig mask represents "capitalistic greed" to Ren, he's said so a couple of times...

At around 05:30 you talk about the smirk and the Doctors "maybe" trying to keep you in the system so they can make more money. If Ren was in the US I might be more likely to believe that as that is why health in the US is a multi-million dollar industry. But he is from the UK, it is not the same. We have a Health Service not a Helath Industry/Business. Free at the point of delivery, there isn't the same pressure to just keep you sick. In fact the more healthy you are, the more money is left available for the workers in the Service. They are more likely to try to get you OFF the books than to keep you on, hence maybe why the wrong diagnosis wasn't picked up earlier. His main problem is that he was mis-diagnosed in the first instance and was treated for the wrong things based on that first diagnosis, for years. I might be wrong, but I don't think he necessarily is angry that the mistake was made, certainly not angry enough to try to sue them. What happened to him, contracting Lyme Disease from a Tick bite, is so rare in this Country it can be easily missed. I feel so sorry for you people in the US and the corrupt system you have and wonder why you don't change it when some of the poorest countries in the world can provide free health care for their citizens, like Ethiopea

Ren is being misdiagnosed by the woman talking to him. He spent a long time being told by "medical professionals" that his illnesses were mental, when in fact it turns out he had Lyme disease. It's my interpretation that the recurring Pig Butcher character is his cynical alter ego's perception of the medical professionals that just keep feeding him psychotropics and misdiagnosing him. I would say it's a prequal to "Hi Ren". "Hi Ren" is the crescendo of the story, him kinda figuring it all out, and learning how to cope with his ailments.

Given your Christian faith, and you speaking of the need to be anchored to something, I wouldn't mind seeing you react to Ren's "Humble". It's catchy, upbeat, and positive. If you want another, more heavy Ren song, to again speak of the need to be anchored to something, try "Depression". If you want just fun rap with no heavy msg try "what you want" or "ocean". Also, as a Christian, another Ren song to be a launchpad for discussion is his song "Dear God" 🙏 and ✌️
