I got tickets to a Queen +AL concert and told a co-worker how excited I was and she looked at me not understanding, "I don't know who Queen is" "yes you do, you just don't know that you know" "what???" I stomp-stomp clap a couple times, "We Will Rock You? That's Queen?" "Somebody had to write it." " And 'We are the Champions'?" "Yup, still Queen" "Wow, I guess I DO know Queen!"

Live AId was a duel-venue concert to raise money to fight the effects of a 2- year drought in Ethiopia that was broadcast worldwide. There were 72,000 at Wembley Stadium and at the second venue, JFK Stadium in Philadelphia there were 100,000. The concert was broadcast to a worldwide audience using 13 satellites to 1.5 BILLION people! There were 75+ acts that each performed a 20-minute gig to help raise money including Elton John, Madonna, Santana, Run DMC, Sade, Sting, Bryan Adams, the Beach Boys, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Duran Duran, U2, the Who, Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Eric Clapton. Queen stole the show. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said David Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.”

Fun reaction! When you see the clapping to “Radio Gaga” it’s important to remember that this isn’t a Queen concert/Queen audience. These people came to see a bunch of different 18:15 legends. Queen was a late add to the line up so the people there bought tickets unaware that Queen was performing that day. The call and response was a staple at Queen concerts. Brian May and the other band members didn’t want Freddie to do it at this venue afraid it might flop in the mixed audience. It didn’t. This kind of thing are examples of why so many people consider Freddie Mercury the or one of the greatest front men in rock and roll history. Signed, a Queen devotee since the late 70s. Have fun!

if you think that this crowd of 72,000 people was big you should watch his Rock in Rio concert. Watch the song Love of my Life Rock in Rio and there are about half a million people in that audience. It was a two day concert with 1.2 million people showing up in those 2 days. Remembering that Rio in Brazil was a crowd that didn't speak English, watch what they do to show Freddie and Brian how much they are loved. It's amazing.

I personally prefer Freddie's actual performance of Love Of My Life at Wembley in '86. I just think that the way he sang it was better. But the crowd in Rio? OMG. If you factor in the fact that most of them didn't speak English and still knew every word, it's enough to make you cry. I would recommend watching both performances.

Brazilian fans knows their stuff and are very dedicated to lots of international bands. The biggest Norwegian band, A-ha, played at Rock in Rio in 1991 and got in the Guinnes books of records for having the most paying audience at an outdoor concet ever. Dont know which year Queen performed there, but A-ha was huge there. Artists like Guns’n Roses, Prince, INXS, Run DMC, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Faith no more, George Michael/Wham, Judas Priest, NKOTB etc...played at the same festival but A-ha drew the most attendance. They had that record until 2017. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xXmL2J2LraJmiI4 kzitem.info/news/bejne/zH2G1Hl8kpR0a4o

@@trishc3099 I agree. The crowd at Rio was better and louder but I think Freddie's vocals were especially better at Wembley. He hits a songbird type high note at one point when the crowd sings "I still love you" and he follows with that note. It's damn perfection when he hits that. Freddie's live performances of this song are all great but I believe the Wembley Stadium version is the best.

Each group only had 20 minutes if they went beyond it, they were told the audio would be cut. There were so many bands, it was an all day event, with a second show going on at the same time in Philadelphia. Wembley held 72,000 people and the show was sold out but number of attendees ranges from 72,000 to 80,000 depending on who you listen to. Unfortunately, I believe this is the copy of this concert that cuts off right at the end which sucks but it is often the one people choose because it is a couple minutes shorter than the other one that opens with the comedians dressed as London Police. Of course this is still well worth the listen, this set is fantastic. I always feel like I am actually there. I watched this on TV the day it happened, I think everyone did. The concert was a benefit for Famine Relief in Ethiopia. All of these songs are original Queen songs. Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga-Ga, (Ay-OH call and response) Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. That is the set list, I didn't get the time stamps.

What makes it even more impressive is Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) was advised not to sing at Live Aid due to throat issues. He ignored the doctor's advice and totally crushed it. The world that we created [Verse 2] You know that everyday A helpless child is born Who needs some loving care Inside a happy home Somewhere a wealthy man Is sitting on his throne Waiting for life to go by Oh, oh-oh [Chorus] Is this the world we created? people you really should do a reaction for: Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven (all songs from any of these groups) The Bee Gees - Words The Beatles - Revolution Cat Stevens - Father and son Jim Croce - Time in a bottle Aerosmith Pink Floyd That gives you a small start from the 70's bands. There are so many more good bands from the 60's and 70's that you should hear. Even from the 50's like the Everley Brothers are great with fantastic harmonies.

Unfortunately you've got the version that cuts his glorious last note off (no fault of your own). I loved this reaction!

Freddie Mercury is a LEGEND. Watch Documentaries and Biographies about Queen and Live Aid July 13.1985. If I wrote everything I know about Queen it would be a novel. They were remarkable. Yes We Will Rock You was a Queen song and so was We are the Champions. Queen songs are still being enjoyed, I love this.

Of course those are Queen songs!!! Queen is a band where all 4 members wrote songs (hit songs, as a matter of fact) so they had no need to perform other composer’s songs. You probably know more songs that are Queen songs but you don’t realize it (yet.) Unfortunately, you used a video that many reactors also have used which doesn’t include the ending of that concert-so there was little more to it, for that set. Plus, later on in the concert, Freddie and Brian came back out and sang one more song (“Is This The World That We Created”) which is definitely worth reacting to. Love your reactions!

72,000 people, bud. And after five minutes Freddie had everyone of them in the palm of his hand. That's why he's the legend he always believed he would be.

SUGGESTION!! “FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS” LIVE AT MILTON KEYNES BOWL, 1982 (I would LOVE to see you “try” to imitate some of Freddie Mercury’s moves, here! You’d need a STRIPPER POLE, tho… Guitarist Brian May said that Freddie was double jointed, and it shows!) OTHER SUGGESTIONS: “UNDER PRESSURE” LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM, 1986 “LIAR” (The 8+ minute long version) LIVE AT THE RAINBOW, 1974

This concert started in London and then in Philadelphia. I watched it on TV in 1985. Out of all of the legendary bands Queen stole the whole show.

It's a shame that this video with the rather odd editing at the end seems to have become the most prominent version on YT at the moment. There are others which have the ending right. There was also an additional song by Freddie and Brian later on (possibly the 9.48 which flashed up briefly). IIRC, it was an acoustic version of "Is this the World we Created?"

That's why he's the greatest frontman to ever do it and yes We Will Rock You and We are the Champions are Queen songs. No one wanted to go on after Queen. They owned the day

It's surprosing how many ppl doing these rraction vids believe Crazy Little Thing Called Love was a cover version! No, Freddy wtote it in 1975. Anyway. This is awesome in every sense of the word and we in the UK miss Freddy's musical genius every day. Hope you're up there still rocking Freddy!

It's too bad that you chose the one copy of this video that cuts out on the very last verse, Freddie's ultimate finale, "of the world", followed by his, theatrical, 'Only Freddie Mercury', g.o.a.t. bows to the audience! So much class, but always & without fail, he gave homage & gratitude to his audience. Always delivering 150%, with absolutely, zero distraction from what he naturally knew & defined as, professionally, what his audience expected, desired & hoped to see from Queen. Queen set the highest standard for themselves from the beginning & they only continued to raise it & surpass it at each & every opportunity. They had zero tolerance for anything unprofessional when performing for their fans and/or what was released to them. That is the secret to the adoration, loyalty & respect that Queen continually, commands & receives, then, now & always. They gave all of these things to their audience, and it was returned without question or fail. Why? They set their name & "everything that goes with it", at a level so high & refused to go under it. These guys were the gifts that kept on giving! Their combined musical genius and composition were above & beyond their time and our, own understanding, but we reaped every sweet, sounding reward that we received from listening to them and/or watching them. We still do & always will. Except for pausing after every song in this, (every other song would be better), and the cut off, (that cut off is brutally painful), I must say that I was tremendously enchanted with your reaction! One of the best reactions that I have viewed. So fun & thanks for the joy & smiles you gave me. I hope you will purposely seek to listen to all that you have not heard from Queen, as well as, all the other legends in music before your time. There is an overabundance of joy awaiting your attendance.

Yes, this is a dud video that very disappointingly breaks off the ending of We Are The Champions. I don't know why this seems to be the one that everyone reacts to. I believe the full video is available on the Queen Official YT channel and that they don't block people reacting to any of their stuff, so it should be OK.
