I like how we got 3 seasons of Aang being an absolute pacifist to the point that he refused to use lethal force against Fire Hitler, meanwhile Korra immediately resorts to sticking a judge into the open maw of her gargantuan polar bear dog and threatening to let her bite down.
@VeeAllar738
10 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's actually sorta sad how they both lived in the wrong times. Aang would have loved living in Korra's time where peace was mostly achieved, and spiritual communication and understanding was needed over flat our violence. While Korra would have appreciated the clear and uncomplicated goal of "here's the bad guy, go kick his ass."

@@VeeAllar738 At the same time though, Korra definitely would've killed the Fire Lord. Which could've led to who knows what as the cycle of violence continued. Must say Mako snitching on Korra preventing her from protecting her entire tribe because it’s his job/ duty to be honest just to turn around and go behind his boss, disobey order, make a deal with criminals, use the Avatars name to make the deal to prove his point is hilarious 😂😂… the double standard & hypocrisy is on another level

He's also a serial cheater when it comes to Asami and Korra, wasting no time in flip-flopping between them the moment one inconveniences him in some way. Also, Korra's tribe being violently overthrown and oppressed, on top of an openly admitted cultural genocide, and he comes out with the "but both sides" shit as soon as they land in Republic City after she mentions attending a fucking peace march. Dude is extremely lucky he didn't get flayed alive by a pair of powerful/resourceful vengeful exes, and he would have deserved it.

I think they had the lemur training in the episode because Tenzin is spending more time with his kids. They just had the episodes where they were talking about how Aang wasn’t really a good father to all of his kids. So it’s showing Tenzin trying to do better.

A major difference between Aang and Korra is how they react to being put into a corner. Aang's first instinct is evasion. For physical attacks, he will slip out of the way and dodge, and with a mental task, he is typically quick to find a middle ground to work from. Korra is very direct. She's more likely to fight than evade, especially in physical situations, and has trouble with spiritual and emotional obstacles. That's why their enemies seem so formidable. Aang was fighting people and armies, Korra is fighting ideologies.

Re: the Meelo Lemur Training, I don't think it's unrelated or only for comedic effect. Tenzin has to look at his own actions by seeing how his advice to Meelo plays out. Tenzin just wanted Meelo to learn how to tame a single lemur to be his pet. Instead, Meelo trains a whole army to follow his every command. This falls outside Tenzin's intention. Tenzin's interactions with his family have often related to his relationship with Korra to some extent. Fighting with his siblings is as emotionally charged and irrational as his arguments with Korra. In the previous episode, Ikki realizes that sometimes loved ones needs to be forgiven, just as Tenzin may have to forgive Korra. Meelo went in his own crazy direction with Tenzin's teachings, just as Korra does with airbending. Also, at the end, Meelo and the lemur aren't happy - sure, they are efficient and tactical, but they aren't happy.

If Korra remained 'neutral', she'd be letting a larger army from the North defeat the South. She'd be picking a side by remaining neutral. She does need to learn to not rush into things and try taking the diplomacy route. The issue with Raiko is that he's a massive hypocrite. He won't get involved until an issue is on his doorstep, but by then it's too late. Then he expects the avatar to work her magic and fix everything

What really STINGS (hehe) is that the whole premise of Mako telling on Korra to the President was on the basis of "you are a man of the law before all else", and then the next episode, he specifically goes outside the law to help Asami; conspiring with shitty shady people and even enlisting them to help. They are criminals, LMFAO. It just makes Mako look like a raging hypocrite and biased against Korra (to us).

I don't understand where this whole concept of the Avatar having to be neutral in the face of war. No one told Aang that he had to remain neutral in the 100 Year War. He knew he had to defeat Fire Lord Sozin to stop the war. Unalaq became the Northern Water Tribe Chief after betraying the the next in-line and has now subdued the Southern Water Tribe for his own goals. He has already shown Korra that he is indeed a villain, so why must she remain neutral?

Yeah, it’s more about Korra being young and inexperienced and trying to figure out what being the Avatar truly means. It’s difficult, especially because most of the time “keeping balance” had to do with different nations interacting, but this situation is all in the water tribe. Korra has to fight villains that are technically in the right quite often, though we know they are out of balance.

I've never likes the avatar had to stay neutral shit they said in here. When has the avatar stayed neutral? The last 2 avatars fought against the fire nation. Roku threatened the fire lord before the great War broke out. Hell Avatar Kyoshi killed the king of the Earth nation when he tried to conquer her home. The show has literally never shown the avatar to be neutral in conflicts, especially when it centers around the avatar's home.
@lightningg252
10 ай бұрын
The word "neutral" is being used as a manipulation by Unalok and is an oversimplication of the idea that the Avatar is supposed to serve the world as a whole and maintain balance. It's up to the Avatar to decide when to readjust the scale, let people sort out their own problems or better yet mediate a compromise. She is right to get involved in this civil war since the North is steamrolling through and Korra has a personal connection, but she's going about it in the wrong ways because she's letting her emotions get the best of her. Chin, Sozin, and Ozai were about to do the same thing when they were threatened/killed/defeated by the Avatar. But for something like a civil dispute, like with the tribes in The Great Divide, it would be best to either let it work itself out or mediate.

I yall are forgetting that Aang & Co created Republic City to be the center of peace and a blending of all the nations, as wellas a beacon. So it's the Presidents responsibility to not just care for the city but the world as well. People move there from all nations. To let one be wiped out because he sees no ill effects in his town is a failure on his part. Also Aang has a bad temper as well when it comes to those he loves. We've seen when Katara, Appa and Momo were in danger. Temper issues is an Avatar signature but Korra is the only one that gets condemned and called out for it. Shit folks love Kyoshi for her no nonsense approach.
@rug4565
3 ай бұрын
I disagree with that. Yes, they created it to be the center of peace and a blending of all the nations and to be open to everyone, regardless of their origin. However, the four nations were left intact with their autonomy also intact. Republic City was meant to be an alternative to the strict 4 nation/bender tribe structure, a place of refuge for people who felt they couldn't belong or stay within their nations/tribes or even for people who were forced out of their respective nations/tribes. Aang & Zuko (Katara, Sokka & Toph probably as well) planned this city to be a good example for people from different backgrounds to live together in harmony, whether benders or non-benders. Establishing a sort of buffer to the more rigid 4 bending "nations". With season 1, we learned how such a place is put into danger through a civil war, one that was caused because the non-benders felt they were not seen as equal members, and sometimes or often even weren't treated as equal members (the council only consisting of bender nation representatives). A significant number of non-benders felt their voices were ignored or didn't count as much and that benders monopolized all or most of the power for themselves. Now we learned that they elected a president and cabinet of sorts, one that is meant to represent and govern the city as a whole, uniting it. Someone who got elected with the purpose of reconciling the city's various factions with each other, healing the wounds of their own civil war that just ended, and attempts to prevent new civil wars cannot just go and take "one side" (doesn't matter whether it's the right or wrong side) in someone else's war. Especially considering that the water tribes are a separate, autonomous "nation". Again, the fire nation, earth kingdom and water tribe(s) are autonomous nations. As is Republic City. And yes, they are meant to be a center and beacon of peace, but as the other nations are separate and autonomous, Republic City cannot/shouldn't interfere with their politics. Even if the world might be better off if every nation would be more like Republic City, they cannot go ahead and "force" that peace upon another, autonomous nation. If Republic City were to do that, it would be like the US (just the most prominent example, other nations do it as well) stating: well, we are the beacon of peace and democracy, therefore it's our responsibility to bring that to the rest of the world/enforce that throughout the world. We see how that usually ends up, don't we.

He should've done everything he could to make sure she cooled down and not gone through with the plan to subvert Raiko before snitching but it was the right thing to do for everyone's sake. Korra is being insanely stubborn and hotheaded out of stress, which makes her get and fall for dumb ideas and manipulations. Requesting aid is fine but when that didn't work, she was about to drag all of Republic City into a war whether they wanted it or not. The President is not a good guy and is a hypocrite but not getting involved in the war is his decision to make.

For all the people who keep saying that Korra should remain neutral and that her picking a side will only increase conflict/lead to war, what do you think about all the other times the Avatar picks a side, or anyone picking any side? Do you think Aang should have remained neutral during the 100 year war? Do you think Korra was wrong to fight against Amon? The Avatar's job is to keep peace and balance, so is it really wrong of her to side with the people who are being invaded? Yes, she is biased in that her family is from the Southern Water Tribe, but that doesn't make her wrong. In this situation, the Southern Water Tribe is the one that's being invaded. Avatar Roku sided with the Earth Kingdom when Sozin decided to invade the Earth Kingdom. Do people think that he should have remained neutral? I don't think the Avatar's job is to simply be the person that hosts negotiations between two sides. When one side is out of line and refuses to step back, the Avatar needs to step up and stop them from seizing more power. Aang and Korra both tell Ozai and Unalaq respectively to stop what they're doing before fighting them. Sometimes not choosing a side is choosing the side of the more powerful group. That's why Unalaq keeps pushing Korra to remain neutral. The Northern Water Tribe can take control of the South if there is no outside interference.

Very sad news out of Hollywood: yesterday evening, Matthew Perry, Chandler Bing from Friends, was found dead in his apartment hot tub. He was 54.😞😭
