that one nipa tile you made is so symbolic. you not being able to recognize which one you made when it was already part of the whole. of you getting it from the land, making something out of it, building with it, using it and allowing it to be part of what will protect you in the days ahead... and when time comes, it will also be dismantled only to happily rejoin the earth where it came from. ♥

Wow! Kumander D, you are real & having fun. My mother used to tell us about our grandparents weaving nipa as a source of income. Watching your blogs made me realize how important it is to know the process, though my profession is so irrelevant to nipa production, it will mean so much for me to learn. That will be on my list when given a chance to visit Philippines after 46 years of living in USA. So inspiring & humbling, keep practicing till you earn PhD in Nipa Weaving. I will visit you as your student & call on the young locals to join us. Stay safe, happy, healthy. God Bless!🙏🇵🇭🇺🇸❤️

KD please get yourself a pair or 2 of good rainboots (always have a spare when you're drying off the other one). You will need it every time you walk around the fishpond, as the slippers will always tend to get stuck in the mud and it will break in no time. Do not walk around barefoot or you may catch some parasites. When going into the actual muddy fishpond, you need waterproof fishing waders with boots. It will be a good investment (around $50 at Amazon).
