Thank you for explaining everything. I’m older and alone and can’t afford a plumber for all the little things that need to be done. This was one of them. God bless…🙏🏻👍🙏🏻

Out of curiosity, with those rubber washers being so cheap, why wouldn't you just replace them both? Preventive maintenance, not reactive maintenance. Still a good video because a lot of people wouldn't know what to do in this situation.

Nice explanation. I'm about to do this to my outdoor faucets on my 1966 house. The faucets look original and I'm assuming the washers might have been replaced once (can't imagine they lasted 54 years). I'm hoping the new washers will last another 30 years.

He used a wrench to turn off on water. I was told it would cost almost $100 to buy a water key. After seeing this video i dont need a water key to shut off my water in an emergency.
@leeb.7188
3 жыл бұрын
Not $100. I paid about $40 - $50 at the orange box store. It depends on far the turn-valve is from street level. Mine is about three feet down so I can’t reach it with a wrench and had to buy the water key. In the far north, they can be four feet below ground, due to the frost line. This guy sounds like he’s in the South, so they’re not buried very deep and he can easily reach it with a hand tool.

It depends on how hard the valve is to turn… Sometimes a crescent wrench will not do it…
