So glad i found you. I had a persistent cough and sinus cold recently, lasted for about 6 weeks. During that period i pulled a muscle in my right breast region and i also tore a rib cartledge. So for around 8 weeks i was favouring the RHS of my.body around my chest and rib cage area. Well the cough and cold finally abated, and the rib cartledge tear has healed back up, but during this process of tightening and holding my RHS chest and ribs i also pinched a nerve in my neck. Now, for the past week i have excruciating nerve pain in my scapular, my deltoid my shoulder joint and it radiates down my right arm. I know there is a famous philosophical quote that says..."this too shall pass"... but i am really struggling in pain here, and basic pain meds such as panadol and an anti inflammatory med such as Voltaren arent doing anything at all to alleviate this incredible discomfort and pain i am experiencing. So i will try your regime protocol as well as your other video on Pinched Nerve remedy and see how it goes. Thankyou for your video and for affirming that many people experience such injuries around the neck and shoulder, and that it can be very debilitating. Thanks again

I can feel an incredible difference just standing up straight! It no longer feels as tiresome having to force my shoulders back. Thank you for sharing these exercises! My only question is, my foam roller is only 18 inches, so either my head or my hips have to hang off the foam roller. I never leave comments ever but I started getting so concerned about my (both physical and mental) health as I reached 30. One day I went for a massage, the masseuse noticed the little hump on my neck and compared it to my bf's perfect neck&shoulders. It hit me so hard as I know I have poor posture: a bit forward head and round shoulders, and lower back pain through my whole life even when I was in my 20s. I started doing research on how to help myself and found a patient on reddit who went to physical therapy to fix her similar (but much severe) posture. She listed very detailed exercises that help and some led me to your channel. I proceeded to follow your exercises and could see the immediate results :) Just want to appreciate you guys for sharing it for free and for caring so much about people health! Kids these days have such poor posture from the development of technology. It saddens me so much (especially as I'm now sharing a house with 2 Taiwanese teenagers who have crazy hump backs :( and their parents didn't say a thing)! I really hope school will take all of your talks and exercises into their curriculums because kids are really going to fuck their lives up!

Early on your emphasis should be stretching. Later make the transition into more aggressive strengthening. The idea is we want to get into the right position first (stretch) to be able to stabilize in that position (strength). Thanks for your comment, Niko!

Can you do this with a shorter roller and put across your shoulders ? Like when you do back extension.
@toneandtighten
5 жыл бұрын
So the thing I don't like about that, Paul, is it makes the activity a lot more active. For example to lay with the foam roller perpendicular to your spine requires a lot more ab and glute activation to hold yourself in that position. This position would also pin your shoulder blades down to your thorax, making the arm motions much more difficult. In contrast, laying on it along the length of your spine can be completely passive (no muscle activation which is ideal for stretching) and keeps your shoulder blades mobile (necessary for full overhead flexion). I hope that helps answer you question; thanks for asking!

This is the first video I watched on this channel. Omg! I just did 1 minute of this and I don’t think my back has touched the floor like this in 40 years! And I could physically see a difference in my posture in 1 minute!! I really liked these exercises. Thank you and god bless you for putting these on. Now I am hopeful I can actually reverse my hunch.

Just ran across this video as I was looking for foam roller stretches…. Holy Smokes….. this was amazing. I like spinal roller massages or even spinal hand massages. This was like I got not in one. And the end result was significantly better. Truly does work.

I love my foam roller! My chiropractor suggested getting one because of my poor posture. I had a small hard roller using it perpendicular but it never helped. These exercises help to take away upper back pain.

You just saved me $200 a month for a personal trainer $100 a month for chiropractor and a bunch of 48 year old rusty joint pain lol.... the trainers at my gym just seemed to be concerned with numbers rather than my hurting back. Did a few of these stretches and instantly felt a heat and release of stagnant energy. I will be you number one fan every morning.
