Wow, Christine...that turned out to be a bigger job than it looked like from the outset. Great job. Going to work well. Glad you managed to sell some of your white grape harvest too this year. Lovely, healthy looking bunches! The weather sure is changing from one extreme to the other . Good going!

I think that just a surface level gutter, not a French drain. French drains are pipes with holes that are put in at the base of your foundation. They are set in a bed of clean gravel. With a membrane over the gravel to keep dirt from clogging up the drain holes. The French drains job is to carry the water away from the house. Usually to a field or garden. The goal is to keep water from finding it way into the house. I think you to have to slope the ground away from the house. Currently your land outside the door looks to be sloped towards the house. That little gutter in front the door will get filled up and just hold the water until it slowly drains into the soil or you pump it out. Think of it as a gutter, you need to give it a slope and give it a direction to flow. I think that was the road next to your rock wall before. But maybe the road is higher than the drain and you were getting the road water as well.

Hi Christine Looks good, a lot of work to rectify the previous work, but better to get it done now😏. Sometimes it's better to do the work yourself, instead of relying on Artisans, at least you can be sure its been well done. 😊

Well done, Chris, you did a fab job. It's so sad you have to redo things that the builders did. But you're getting there. 😊

You are turning into Super Woman. Well done on doing the drain channel. Do you need an left hand "end cap" for the drain channel? ATB from a very HOT 32c London

Nice job on the doorway Christine! Unbelievable that the rogue builders didn't finish it, but you have probably done a much better job than they would have, especially using the waterproofing solution in the mix. Well done!

Hi Chris🎉 rain,oh no, it’s boiling here. Must have Portugals weather here in the UK. Fancy a swop, our garden could do with some of that water. Wow I’m impressed with your work on the drainage super, no end to your talents, but how did you keep your nails looking so good with all that work. Tony ❤️🇬🇧 xx

I worry about that drain coming through the wall. If there’s much water coming through from the other side, you need to have an outlet on the other side. Where is all that water gonna go? Looks like into the corner of your house there. It’ll go through the drain and then where?

Christine, it looks like a good repair to me, but I am no expert. Will you cement on the outside of the drain for structural support? Well done.

It's too bad that you have to redo a bad job that you paid for. Like??? I do think that you did a good job with the door. Maybe next time it rains, leave the plastic off and see how well the drain functions and if the water is pouring out the pipe on the other side of the wall. The rain if nothing else, will point out any deficiencies, and then you will know how to proceed.🙂👍👍🇨🇦
