Fixing My Misfiring Integra! (Cap and Rotor Replacement)
Not too much to doing a basic cap and rotor replacement on this 1999 Acura Integra LS. As long as you can get to your distributor easily the cap and rotor are simple to change. Just don't mix up your spark plug wires! One at a time for sure!
Basically Just remove the retaining bolts from your distributor cap and then pull it off and inspect the contacts for discoloration or corrosion. The distributor rotor is the spinning piece under that cap still attached to the engine!
To remove the distributor cap you need to crank the engine just a touch so that you can access the bolt (not really a bolt) behind it. Remove the retaining mechanism (can't say the word of it for some stupid reason) but keep it to use for the next distributor rotor you put on. Everything goes back the way it came off and you should be good to go!
Don't forget to clear your codes!
This method of changing the distributor cap and rotor works for almost all honda and acura vehicles specifically but all cap and rotor setups will be similar.
Fixes Check Engine (CEL) codes P0300 and P0303! (few others too)
