Is 9 ft ceiling the thing to do these days? I'm fine with 8 ft and even used to it, but I'm looking to get a house built and 9 ft is an upgrade. I don't know if I wanna shell out more money for an echo-y floorplan.

Steve it’s a preference for sure this house is a ranch one story so there are cathedral ceilings as well The sound that was so echo - y - it’s not finished when I was filming carpet flooring and furniture in the house makes the echo go away I’d like to be able to help you with options in building your house let me know if you would like me to get in touch with you Happy New Year !

It echos less when you put furniture and decorations in it. IMO, don't spend money building or buying anything less than 9ft nowadays. Renting is w/e, but long-term commitment, for me, involves having something better than standard, especially OLD, outdated, *_past_* standards.

@@ClaudiaSellsNCHomes she might of asked if you take a measuring tape the walls would be 9ft tall at any location of the house.

Cinderblocks used to construct block houses are 8 inches tall, and the two layers of mortar used to stick them together are about an inch thick. Effectively, and after a finished floor and ceiling are installed, every 3 blocks is 2 feet, so you'll either get 8 feet or 10 feet, or some weird in-between in a block house. IMO, spring for the 10s if you can, which should be 15 cinderblocks tall.
