I was the referee for the Cactus v Eddie Barbed Wire Match. I was 20 years old and about 6 months in. Back then a piledriver was a finisher on another wrestler let alone a ref. I sold like I was trained to. Long story short I went to the ER due to an overzealous EMT staff and PA State Athletic Commission. I did tell the EMTS I was ok. When we got to the back one of the EMTS said, "You are ok, right?" Well Gilbert was there in character with a bunch of media. He interrupted and said, " Of course he's not alright. And if he ever gets in my way again he will get the same." What was I going to say. I kept my mouth shut and kayfabed. Cactus was still ringside. Anyway Cactus vs Eddie was my 3rd straight match that night. I was exhausted and fatigued. I told the PA Commission I was fine. They didn't believe me. They said if I didn't get checked out at the ER they would shut the show. I couldn't believe it. But I guess they saw me as a liability if I was truly hurt. It was my home promotion and the promoter Joel Goodhart my friend and mentor. So I went to the ER to make sure they were no problems with the Commission. I guess the condition Cactus and Eddie were in was "expected " b/c they were wrestlers but I guess they saw me as a 20 year old ref who got hurt "for real." I guess I did my job too well LOL But love Cactus and Eddie, never meant to detract from their injuries, I was just trying to do my best. In fact several months later I did their stretcher match in August 91 when Eddie broke the bottle. Funny thing was, earlier that day at a show at a car dealership in CT, I reffed Orndorff vs Rude and Rude gave me a piledriver. Again, EMTs put me on a stretcher. I was like damn, someone smarten these EMTs up LOL

I attended all of the Tri-State matches in 1990 - 1991. I was 16, and it was typically other wrestlers/matches that made me want to go, but Cactus-Eddie that had me talking the most after. So happy to have seen these matches live, and hold both men in a special place in my heart.

Freaking love this guy! From his in-ring style to his unprecedented character work to his real life good hearted nature. The wrestling world loves Mick Foley and he will go down in history as one of the best to ever do it. Better than all that though is the work he does for charities and those less fortunate. A real life give his shirt away type of person. Much love and respect Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy.

I used to take the john Arrezzi Bus Rides monthly to Philly and it made me reborn as a fan in the early 90's. I actually got to drive John & Mick to john's House after an ECW show as Mick was concussed and forgot where he lived... Great times I will be forever grateful to John Arrezzi for

I grew up a WWF kid, and I remember once seeing pictures of Cactus Jack in a wrestling magazine and, yes, I did find him to be scary. He didn’t appeal to me at all. Later, when he joined WWF, he became my favourite wrestler.

I have a hope of one day listening to Foley is Pod and its announced Mick Foley officially opened a training school.. Cactus Jack might not be able to move so good but the fact he traveled the world working by far over shadows it, what counts just as much as knowledge is experience. Find a good co-coach that can cover the physical work, and just share your experiences. With Vince retiring and HHH heading creative another TV-14 era has a good chance of happening and the ones like me who love you and dream of the business could use a hardcore LEGEND as a trainer 🖤🖤 It's an idea.

Can anyone answer me on the question of where the name cactus jack came from? There was a kirk Douglas character called Cactus Jack Slade. Wonder if that's where he got it. It was a big stunt movie directed by Hal needam and the character was like wiley coyote and kept surviving. If it's talked about here my apologies. I'm kinda in and out of the podcast while I'm at work.

Mick: You can be cremated while also being buried in a graveyard and have a tombstone I've had 3 relatives cremated buried in a graveyard with a tombstone that being said that may not be an option in the state that you want to be buried in. All that being said I've always enjoyed the fact that you can laugh at yourself. One last thing I hope that you have another booking in the Knoxville area so my wife and I can enjoy another one of your stand-up shows and then meet you again after the show the price is well worth the show and as a bonus the meet and greet

Being offended has never entitled anyone to anything until the last 5 or 6 years and it makes no sense to me. Being offended is now supposed to require some kind of action from the “bad” person that did the offending? No one deserves anything for just feeling offended full stop.
