OMG! I doubt, IF you got sick from eating Mexican FOOD, it wasn’t poisoned on purpose. You call the local health department; NOT THE COPS. 🥴THE health department determines whether the illness was from mishandling of the food or the food itself. If you dined in, a waitstaff may not have washed their hands after using the rest room and then placed flatware on the table by handling the fork tines/spoon bowls/knife blades instead of the handles. And, the kitchen was NOT at fault. That happened at a restaurant I once ate at. Luckily, neither i nor my family became ill; but other diners did. The waitstaff had to be ‘(re)trained’ to WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER USING THE RESTROOM! 😵💫. Aren’t we taught at age 2 to do that?????

Not to mention the water they spray on fresh vegetables makes them go rotton faster. I've gotten ecoli from fresh romaine lettuce, never from bagged stuff. With that being said WASH EVERYTHING you buy at the store! Bagged and packaged or not doesn't matter, handling facilities are gross.

Yes, but its mostly happen when you cooked a lot of rice (e.g. in restaurant) and left in room temp. for long, the heat from cooking it won't be enough to kill all the microorganism. And leaving it on room temp. would encourage the microorganisms to grow and produce toxins, which if eaten could cause intoxication (if i'm not wrong) TLDR: not properly cooked rice didn't kill all the bacteria, and it might produce toxin if leave in room temp

Rice also need to be cooked properly since it has a small amount of arsenic. One case where a woman didn't wait for the boiling to finish cooking, assuming that it doesn't matter as long as the rice it soft and tasted cooked, she ended up with intestinal complications. If you want good, healthy, safe rice then never rush the process, just wait for the boiling to come to a stop on its own and let it steam for a while. Also, to keep the rice fresh for as long as 24 hours or more, make sure you clean it off properly. Clean the rice and rinse with water until the water is no longer cloudy. To be safer, reheat the rice before bedtime and again after waking up.

More specifically, these are the foods from the average grocery store that might make you sick. Homegrown or home raised foods are at far lower risk for problems, because you’ve got your eyes on them the whole time. If you are killing and cooking your own chicken that you raised, you are at a very low risk. It’s the factory chickens that go through the fecal bath, etc. Factory-processed chickens are often disgusting and should be treated carefully. But if you just killed it a few minutes ago? You’re fine, just cook it normally.

I think this is an american problem cause in my country food poisoning doesn't seem to be as common as in america. A friend of mine from america has had FP a few times whereas a lot of people I know from here never had it once in the same timeframe as my friend. The keyword is just as you mentioned: natural food, I didn't even know bagged lettuce existed. We gotta be careful with what we eat and also our hygiene (I think I touched my mouth with dirty hands once and I had the worst case of diarrhea in years) our ancestors definitely took care of their stomach since FP meant death for most.

Rice is known to have Bacillus cereus and basically it survives cooking and quickly grows into a bacteria that can't be killed with re-cooking and does so within an hour at room temp.
