The aim of the football/soccer speed training is to develop the players' ability to accelerate, accelerate in the shortest possible time, change the running direction at the maximum achievable sprint intensity and after this sprint receive the ball, dribble ball to another game position, pass teammates and sprint and accelerate, usually with a change of direction. In the exercise, we focus on starting speed and acceleration lasting a maximum of 10 seconds, but rather usually around 5-7 seconds.
During training, players must not only accelerate, but also brake quickly and often change the direction of the run, usually at a right angle. Players must learn to receive the ball, after a previous intense run, and then work with it, dribble ball and pass.
The exercise is intended for 6-16 players in the field, but also for football goalkeepers. The training exercise is intended for players of the age category U10-U17.
