I have a 1979Rt and my forks are a bit different.I’ve been experiencing some bottoming out and would like to try adding oil.Would the procedure be the same?

The forks are different. What I would do is follow a repair manual on the drain and refill produce of your bike. The more modern forks have a drain plug at the bottom and the manual should give you the viscosity as well as the amount for refill.

@@HeikosGarage That’s what I was thinking, I guess if it leaks out then I’ll know for certain that new seals are in order

Question: I have a '76 R90/6 and I had learned a method to measure the fork oil levels by dipping from the top. I think one of my forks mayhave leaked a bit and want to balance the amount of oil to be the same in each. Anyone know what the level should be with the proper amount of oil (265cc). I show about 14.75cm in my forks now.

In my video description I am listing 437mm from the top is where the oil level is supposed to be.

Here is a link to an article about exactly that topic. bmwmotorcycletech.info/front-fork-oils-amounts.htm#:~:text=The%20oil%20level%20should%20be,is%20not%20touching%20the%20ground).

that's not how that wheel balancer works, if you flipped the cones, it would have worked fine

The cones do not work for bmw airhead wheels, what you didn't notice is that there is a spacer in-between those cones, that spacer brings the balancer axle diameter up to the size of a bmw wheel axle.

which is exactly what those cones do, they are universal

@@nicktulloh believe me. They do not work on the wheel of a bmw Airhead. On the outside of the wheel hub on each side is a spacer that is only centered by a soft grease seal. If you use those cones, they will push into that spacer and then the weight of that entire wheel would only be supported but the grease seal and not by the bearing. They make wheel balancers specific to bmw airhead wheels, those do not use cones but they use adapters that slide inside those spacers that I just mentioned, to be able to center the wheel with the bearing. The funny thing is that this video wasn't even about wheel balancing. Here is a link to an airhead wheel balancing video which explains everything kzitem.info/news/bejne/lH-c2Z6lmnuIoIosi=1Sjb2YlhnlKo2OWl
