The Korea Times spoke to Alvin Uy, a former K-pop trainee who stayed in Korea for about a year in 2017 for training in hopes that he would one day become a K-pop star and make his country proud.
Alvin is now living in Canada under a different name and he is planning to proceed with his studies to get a PhD.
He told The Korea Times that it was hard for him to talk about his experience as the memories still affect him to this day but decided to do this interview because he thought it would give people another perspective about what foreigners can go through in the K-pop industry.
Five years have gone by since he left Korea but we are not sure if things have changed for the better.
