Why? He's not a very engaging person to listen to. No one could make listening to him repeat the same shit over and over again entertaining or enjoyable. She actually seems fairly enthusiastic, surprisingly, throughout the video(if you were to actually watch it all). Her not interrupting him while he stammers and loses his train of not is not engaging enough? lol

She probably never drank bourbon in her life: I'm guessing mostly kale juice and Evian. So of course she's bored. Should have got Charlie Sheen or Keith Richards to do the interview. (Get somebody that knows the subject!)

It just goes to show how far passion can take you and how god has something in store for you that you may never see. He’s obviously a humble and hardworking individual who never thought to make a living doing that. people are so caught up in trying to be popular and rich and get famous they never become very accomplished and when hey humble themselves and open up to the opportunities they may or may not see in front of them , the success and awards and money and all of it comes along Inspirational bit here . I’ve got a bottle of Maker’s and Maker’s 46 in my collection as well currently !

I tend to favour scotch, but I really do appreciate bourbon very much also. Maker's Mark was the first bourbon I tried. I keep a bottle of it in my cabinet. Where I live, I can't often find Four Roses Small Batch, but I discovered Buffalo Trace and it tends to remind me of Four Roses Small Batch, so it's always in my cabinet also. Woodford Reserve is another bourbon I recently tried and it's very nice also. I tend to favour Maker's Mark in the winter... something about the favour on my palate, reminds me of Christmas. Buffalo Trace is the only one of these three I will use for a mixed drink sometimes. I'm more of a purist and enjoy my whiskey neat. But from time to time, I'll make an old fashioned.

Fails to mention that Maker's Mark recipe (Wheated Bourbon) was given to his father by Pappy Van Winkle. That said MM 46 is my go to Bourbon as Van Winkle Bourbon's are all but Unicorns.
@FMichael1970
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah - for those of us who imbibe bourbon know the difference between a 'wheated' bourbon such as Maker's Mark, or Wellers, and a bourbon such as Wild Turkey 101 which has rye in it's mashbill.
@twsamuelsiv
7 жыл бұрын
peter white, how do you know that Pappy "gave us" the recipe? While it is true Pappy acted as a consultant to my Grandfather in respect to the distillery operations, restoration and growth of the Burke's Springs Distillery, what is now MM distillery. The mash bill was developed by making Sourdough bread using family yeast strains.

@dartsharkbob

As a MM Ambassador I don't really care where the recipe came from, all I care about is that MM is one of my three favorite bourbons. Pappy Van Winkle will never make the list. Bourbon is a working man's drink and Van Winkle is not priced to be available to working men and women. If you want fancy and expensive go drink scotch. If you want a good tasting alcohol that doesn't burn your throat out (I'm looking at you Jack D.) then MM is definitely a very good drink to start and finish with.

All the equipment (Vendome) all the barrels?? Independent Stave is both KY and MO. Grain? Well I am sure some comes from Indiana. And I have had a chance to sample some 1950's and 70's bourbon and it was not "swill". And I would contend that Maker's did not bring the industry out of the "doldrums" but rather a shifting of people's preferences which is what put it in the doldrums to begin with. But hey you are Bill Samuels and you learned how to tell a good story.

It would be nice if there was more transparency in the American Whiskey making business, such as finding out on the label, who actually produced the spirit. In Scotland, it's the law that the process/distilling of Scotch has to be produced by a single distiller,.

i the UK am preferring bourbon now over scotch - it is honest, good quality, not too filtered, not coloured (hopefully), often around 45% rather than the basic 40% and the basic makers mark shows a lot of interesting flavours - I am so tired of the bland scotch that comes in at around the same price point (25 pound mark)

I've spent considerable time and expense learning about whiskey and it's variants in the past and I've yet to taste any bourbon that please me. The outcome of my years of study is three whiskey brands are at the top of my list. Single malt scotch: Macallan 18 years old isn't much better than 12, so I stick with 12. Though excellent, 25 year old is too spendy. American whiskey: Hands down, Jack Daniels especially Gentleman Jack if you can afford it. Irish whiskey: Tullamore Dew. Jameson is admittedly popular, but popular doesn't make anything necessarily good. I'm willing to put money on my notion that not so many people actually know much about the category to even know any other brand names, thus order the only name on the shelf they're familiar with.
